Out of nowhere, this awesomeness

Last morning in San Diego, we did fig tree the day before and were moderately happy. we figured this was a great area for restaurants, having gone to Einstein's as well the morning before. What a great little spot in trendy Hillcrest. Parking is a drag, but once you're settled in, this is a fun, casual place to eat and socialize with friends. I had the California Muffelleta, which was a bit different than what I was expecting--my issue, not theirs--as it was a grilled panini with a couple of different types of salami,... More

Great cup of tea and scone. Everything was fresh and delicious. Restaurant was clean and well attended. Busy but the staff was quick and knowledgeable. I look forward to returning again.

Although they seem busy & have a large selection of fresh breads & pastries, I don't recommend their sandwiches. I ordered a roast beef sandwich & was accidentally served an eggplant sandwich which I returned to sender. I can overlook an honest mistake but when my roast beef sandwich was served it was extremely scant, maybe two ounces of roast... More

The food was super good! My only thing was that I got a sandwich and watermelon lemonade as well as a tiny little pastry and it was over $20. Which seemed a little high to me. But it was very good!

Please address the exhaust smell that covered me while i sat and ate a cookie. Not the smell of baking bread, which i would not have minded. I smell like a diner cook now. My hair stinks. Eww. Now for the review. We came for a baguette, which was chewy, but a little flat, maybe under-proofed? We couldn't resist the... More

After our stay in a hotel in the "hotel circle", we went to Hill Crest to this bakery. We were surprised with a very healthy and delicious breakfast, including freshly prepared french style bread. The smoked salmon platter was composed of salat, kapers, seasoning, tomatoes, onion and a lot more, yielding an awesomely tasting creation. And they have a lot... More

Bread and Cie is just as good now as it was when I first ate there six years ago. The chocolate almond croissant was delicious and the cappuccino they made me really hit the spot. The staff were also really friendly. I'll definitely return the next time I'm in San Diego.

The quality and variety of breads are amazing. We stopped in to purchase a couple loaves of irish soda bread ordered in advanced. The location is good - one hour free parking in the back, and the sandwiches and coffee is superb. lots of tables to choose from and quick service.

Look, I can't be unbiased about this place because we've been going here for nine plus years, pretty much every week. Lorena, the baker, knows my kids and gives them treats when she sees them. We know when the hot baguettes come out of the oven on the weekends and time our visits accordingly. So we love this place. It's... More
