In November 2008, as a visitor to San Diego from the East Coast, I attended an event in the Mall of India shopping center on Black Mountain Rd, at which there were at least 20 food booths. I go at least once a week and look forward to it. The food is spectacular and so is the service. I Love it and will recommend it to EVERYTHING who Loves Indian food like I do. more

Like most other Indian restaurants in San Diego, this serves food from the Punjab region of India. Very toned down in spices to cater to the American population. Very average food. Service, leaves a lot to be desired. more

Ashoka is a pleasant surprise in San Diego. Most Indian restaurants in SD are gaudy and touristy, made up for the convention visitors, and their food is heavily toned down. Ashoka actually makes good tasting and spicy food. A nice surprise. The best Indian restaurant in San Diego. more

Ashoka The Great offers some of the best Indian lunch buffet fare I’ve had anywhere. (Hint: for most folks, a lunch buffet is the best bet for Indian food. You get a much broader selection than when you’re forced to pick one or two entrees from a dinner menu.) Ashoka's location near Miramar MCAS is a bit off the beaten... more
