My husband and I had been here years before for lunch and were so impressed that we decided to return for dinner. Seating is in three areas (plus they have a bar area) -- a very nice dining room, an enclosed sun room and an outdoor patio. The first time we went we were seated in the nice dining room... More

We have been eating delicious meals in this restaurant for years. It is a little difficult to find and an unexpected prize when you discover it. The food is always locally sourced and deliciously prepared. The ambiance and decor exudes Balboa Park's personality. It is a proud establishment and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Wanted a nice place for a beer and a sandwich between museums and this place looked lovely. However, it was very expensive. The hamburger was supposed to be Kobe, but who could tell. Asked for medium rare, got medium well. Pig burger was tasty but also very dry and overcooked. Lunch for two with a beer each was over $50.... More

We celebrated my son's 12th birthday while visiting San Diego. Prado made his day special with a wonderful lunch followed by complimentary dessert for the birthday boy. Our waiter was wonderful and lunch progressed at a nice pace...not rushed and not too leisurely. It was a wonderful pick!

We were going to the Old Globe for a production of 'the Grinch", and didn't have alot of time to go downtown for a restaurant. It was super noisy in the bar so I was worried because we were treating my sister from out of town. We got into the patio and had outstanding service, the noise from the bar... More

Tuesdays are free for all of the museums, and the Prado was both noisy and crowded at our table inside. Normally, you can have a quiet lunch, but not this time. That said, the food, as always, was consistently superb and the atmosphere is very inviting, although I think our mistake was also sitting inside. The service is friendly, gracious... More

Prado is located in old exhibit building in Balboa Park. It is very charming and nicely restored Spanish building. The tile work is beautiful. The food is very good and presented well. The place can get very busy in summer and they have lovely area for weddings so there is a lot of activity and it can get noisy. It... More

My husband and adult daughter were on our first visited to San Diego. We began with church at the First Baptist church of San Diego then Spreckle's organ concert and walk through the international village in Balboa park. So we were ready for a nice dinner. We made reservations for five o'clock and were seated just after. Our waiter was... More

Two New Englanders, my husband and I decided to spend our first San Diego day in Balboa Park. Great choice! Prado was recommended as a sit-down restaurant by the Visitor's Center. We were still on east coast time so opted to wait for their 11:00 lunch opening time. We were seated outside at a cozy table for two on an... More
