I love coming to the Prado for a special occasion or before a performance at the nearby Old Globe Theatre. I recently dined at the Prado with my mom before a performance of "Into The Woods." We had the pleasure of receiving Stephen as our waiter. I liked that the first thing he asked was if we were going to... More

We had lunch here after walking around Balboa Park, and after visiting some of the many museums there, and it was very relaxing spot. The ambience is casual southern California, with spacious and comfortable inside and outdoor seating. The food is good to very good and varied, suitable for many tastes. The cocktails are interesting. I had the "Pig Burger"... More

The menu is modest in scale but good quality. Same goes for the wine list. We arrived at 6:30 for a 6:45 reservation and were seated in the pleasant courtyard right away. Our meals choices were well prepared and presented, fresh and tasty. Our waiter attended to timing so we were not rushed but were able to leave in good... More

Interior is lovely and comfortable; service was very attentive. The scripts the wait staff have to recite to you was a bit much, but they're just doing their job. I had lunch there (chorizo burger). I was surprised how bland the food was, after the excellent, complementary, handmade chipotle hummus and flat bread. Moscow mule was excellent though! Good presentation;... More

Prado surprised us with excellent food, lovely ambiance, friendly service and reasonable prices. Crackers on the table with a tasty dip. Intriguing dressing on spinach salad. Mango ice tea. Families with kids and adults mix easily in dining rooms. Pleasant inside, porch and outside dining areas. Artistic ambiance. We were there for lunch but we would go for dinner.

Wonderful service that was appropriate and kind in every way ("impeccable service"), good value, good recommendations, and of course a world class atmosphere -- that describes my experience at the Prado. We have a special dinner there tonight, but I would take my friends/family there any time, and choose appetizer versus full meal to suit the occasion. It has been... More

This is a lovely restaurant inside Balboa Park near the San Diego Zoo. Interesting building which provides a nice atmosphere. We had lunch here and the sandwiches were very tasty. The Mexican hot chocolate was wonderful with just the right amount of spice. I've tried to replicate it at home but have been unsuccessful.

The atmosphere was fabulous - outdoor seating (with nearby heaters) on a lovely CA evening. The service was good but nothing exceptional. The food was good, but the menu is pretty limited. I don't know that I'd go back. If you do decide to give it a go, try the calamari app - it made up for what anything else... More

We were visiting San Diego as part of a trip down the Pacific Coast Highway. We saw the dome of the building on a day to the San Diego Zoo then again on a segway tour that included Balboa Park. I loved the building and after a bit of research discovered that it was a restaurant, so we made a... More
