Sushi ota has great fish and excellent, friendly service. The location is nothing to write home about but once you're inside that factor is easily forgotten. We can't wait to go back!

Best sushi in San Diego in best japanese tradition ,service and quality.Small place, sometime hard to find parking, please call for reservation, cause is very popular. If you had ever eat real japanese sushi in Japan, you know what I'm talking about. It is not Americanized or fusion sushi..Is a real one from home country.

We saw the reviews prior to visiting this restaurant and had very high expectations. Fortunately we were able to get a 10:30 pm reservation on a Tuesday night at the last minute to experience one of the finest sushi meals of our lives. Everything was fresh and tasty and so artfully presented. The restaurant is located in a non descript... More

We love the Sushi Ota. It's so fresh and tasty. You must make a reservation one week ahead. Ota san (owner) is very nice and friendly. We would like to sit at his section. He makes delicious OMAKASE sushi for you.

Excellent traditional sushi. We were in SD on vacation from NY and our family had a wonderful sushi dinner here after a day at LegoLand and stopping in on the way back to our hotel at Mission Bay. It was highly recommended by a Japanese friend whose opinion about sushi we trusted and we were very pleased. As is typical... More

Sushi Ota is a very authentic sushi restaurant. We ordered the calamari appetizer, crunchy tempura roll, the Diego roll, and the caterpillar roll. Everything was perfect! The seafood was fresh and tasty. I recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting sushi in the San Diego area.

A wonderful gem of a Sushi restaurant, using the fresh seafood of the Pacific coast in great combinations. We needed a lively, imaginative restaurant and found a great menu, great service, wonderfully creative combinations.

Seriously fresh, delicious sushi. I got in quickly because I was alone, and sat at the counter, but there was a line at 11:45 when I arrived. Wonderful selection on the menu and daily specials. I skipped the soup and salad and went straight for the sushi. Hamachi toro, hamachi, Spanish mackerel, uni and tamago. I felt like I was... More

Being Japanese-American, our family has been life-long sushi eaters. We have never thought Uni Sushi could be a like-able food until we discovered the high-quality at Sushi Ota! Amazing!! We enjoyed our Osusume, Chirashi, and Sushi combo. The cold green tea was very good - matcha-like as well as the green tea ice cream. We will definitely go back as... More

Our friend came to visit us and really wanted to try Sushi Ota while being here. We haven't tried it yet but have heard good things about it. We made reservations in advanced as everyone says that it's a must. We went on a Sunday and good thing we made reservations as they were pretty packed. Service was good and... More
