We love Vietnamese food and their Pho is better than any we had in Hanoi. Their spring rools and Vietnamese pancakes are also excellent. We haven't tried too many other things because these are so good that we keep ordering them. We just got back to San Diego and will be going there tonight.

A friend who lived in San Diego for a few years recommended for us to eat here while in the SD area. He told us that there was a big Vietnamese community in the area a Vietnamese food was a must-have. I must say that compared to what we have had in New Jersey and New York, this definitely was... Wander off the beaten path for some great Vietnamese food, especially if you are looking for a menu that goes beyond the usual Pho. I started with first rate Salty Fried Shrimp (shells on) as an appetizer followed by Sugarcane Shrimp and Grilled Pork - both dishes to be wrapped (by the diner) in rice paper with vegetables. The Salty... More

This place was busy, usually packed. However, their service was quite good and fast. We did not wait long. We ordered Hot-Pot Seafood & Meat, a mistake. It's plain, not tasted. Crispy Chicken Egg Roll was a standard. Shrimp Spring Rolls were, however, a disappointment: not much shrimp you can appreciate and the dipping peanut sauce was plain.

I went to Phuong Trang after a hike on a Sunday. I had heard great things from numerous people who go to my gym so it's been on my list of places to try for awhile. I'm so glad I finally went! I went with a group of 3 guys who were all ravenous so we ordered a bunch of... More

Let me start by saying my experiences with asian food in the USA has been hit and miss despite positive reviews like this place has. But I must say it was a very pleasant surprise! Decor was a little dated, but so what? A restaurant is all about the food and this place delivers. My wife had a vermicelli bowl,... More

Crispy, crunchy, fresh, and hot....that's how they should taste and that's what they serve here. None of that soggy, pale, stuffed-with-unidentifiable-ingredients that other Asian restaurants serve. They topped off my Vermicelli noodle bowl so beautifully, and complimented the grilled pork skewers. Disappointed in the nuoc mam sauce though, as I found it a bit bland. The other fantastic part of... More

I looked up reviews for Pho all the way up and down Convoy. This place got the best reviews, so I decided to give it a try for take-out. I went in at 4:30, so there wasn't anyone there. The staff was very friendly, and I got my usual, Pho with rare steak and tripe. One of the servers gave... More

The food is fantastic!!! It was recommended by a friend that is a chines descendant young woman whose parents were from Vietnam. There are some experiences that remains forever in your life. This is one of them in my own. It is located around 10 minutes far from the downtown area but worths every single minutes and gas spent to... More

We have tried many Vietnamese restaurants in San Diego, and Phuong Trang is by far have the most and authentic menu. Besides the typical pho, vermencelli noodles, they have other varieties of dishes - such as 7 course beef, crepe, and rice-wrapper. It is not a fancy place nor with the best service. However, it offers many dishes that I... More
