For the past 17 years, BBQ lovers across San Diego County have turned to restaurateur Phil Pace to satisfy a singular craving: mesquite-grilled baby back ribs, beef ribs, chicken and sandwiches. Excellent

There was a long line when we arrived. Thought it was gonna take forever. However the line moved fast. Portions were huge. Will be back for sure.

I can not even attempt to express how much I love Phil's in this tiny box (or limited characters). Once I moved to SD I kept hearing about this place, being from the Midwest I am reluctant to try anything BBQ and expect "greatness". To all of those who have never been don't be alarmed by the line wrapped around... More

While one had to line up to get in, the line moves quickly -- or at least it did on a Monday evening! Ribs were terrific and service friendly and helpful.

There's really no Bar-B-Q like Phil's. The line is always out the front door and around the corner of the building. And then once inside, the prices are amazingly low for some of the best Bar-B-Q you will ever have. Enough, is said about Phil's everywhere already. But, I clearly put it in the win column as well. I've eaten... More

This place is not the same place I once cherished 10 years ago when I was based in San Diego. They have basically opened a fast food BBQ joint where you stand in line for extensive periods of time for just AVERAGE BBQ. My suggestion, avoid this place it is over hyped, overprices, over sauced and just not good. I... More

Food was good, especially the chicken. The ribs didn't have a lot of meat on them. I got the steamed vegetables and there were plenty of them. They have their traffic flow down to a science-good thing because it is very crowded! I would recommend it for the experience.

Sure there are lines during buzzi times, but come before it's crowded at the door... Phil's gives poetic definition to "if you need it fast, if you want it great and you like it right", stop into Phil's. My san Diego friends have dragged me there kikkin twice now and each time I was pleased. I do my own ribs... More

Travelled all the way from Alaska. Had friends tell me about Phil's. It was everything they said it would be and more!! Absolutely the best bbq I've ever had...hands down!! My 7 year old had ribless platter of meat with corn on the cob, she cleared her plate....this never ever happens. I had a little bit of everything. Baby backs,... More

The food was great but we had to wait over an hour in a line filled with other tourists like myself. When we finally got in, the food was good. Word of advice: go close to closing as the line seems to die down.

While driving into my San Diego accommodation I passed this place early morning. As a family we decided to have dinner at this place later on that night. Later on the same evening at around 8:00pm (Saturday night) we pulled into the car park and witnessed a scene which was hard to comprehend. There was a line from the main... More
