Description: For the past thirteen years, BBQ lovers across San Diego County have turned to restaurateur Phil Pace to satisfy a singular craving: mesquite-grilled baby back ribs, beef ribs, chicken and sandwiches. Serving thousands of customers a day from a diverse clientele of skateboarders to Bentleys, Phil has built his foundation on consistency, quality, freshness, and friendly service. "We thrive on providing each guest with the 'Phil's Experience', which basically comes down to organized chaos," laughs owner Phil Pace. "The biggest reason behind our success is our loyal customers who have supported us and waited in line for a taste of BBQ for the past fifteen years. "Since opening its doors in San Diego in 1998, Phil's BBQ has served over one million pounds of BBQ sauce (enough to fill Shamu's tank).

On a return adventure to the California area we purposely drove 2 hours out of our way and carved an extra day out of our vacation plans just so we could give Phil's some time in our schedule. The service and atmosphere are great. We dinned with 3 kids and they all found something to eat on the menu. This... More

Our son recommended this place, as he lives in San Diego. Oh, wow. The best BBQ! I can see why this place is so wildly popular. We didn't have to wait too long, and the service was efficient. You order, find a table and the little alarm thingy goes off when the food is ready. Staff is very quick to... More

I can't believe I'm saying that but the food is amazing. I had the el toro (beef roll) with potato salad (amazing!) and my partner had baby back ribs with coleslaw and fries. All great (huge serving for his meal) but you can to-go food and drinks. Staff were super helpful and friendly.

So, I'm from the southeast and this place keeps up with traditional BBQ from the south. The beef ribs are huge and just 5 of them is so much food. Prices are great for the amount of food you get. Great place and great atmosphere! We shall return!!

Went to Phils to have dinner, but when we got there the line was already huge (even though is moves quickly). So we have decided to call and order to go. In 15min we were ready to go. Bought baby pork ribs and beef ribs. Portions are generous! Baby pork ribs are delicious. Try them.

When I got here, the line for a table stretched around the building. Luckily, the Hampton Inn clerk had told me that there was no wait for eating in the bar. After waiting a few minutes, a seat opened up. The bartenders were attentive, and it was only a few minutes before the baby back rib dinner came. The ribs... More

Wow! That is the best bbq sauce you will ever eat, for sure! The prices are really funny, about 12$ for person and I could hardly finish my dish. I ordered the chicken so i can say that it tasted grate and that the service was super fast. This restaurant is perfect for families or for really really hungry people.... More

Although this is a busy restaurant, we didn't have to wait much to have our food served, friendly and quick service, tasteful BBQ beef ribs and BBQ chicken with elegant ambiance made this place charming and attractive, yet price is not high either, will sure be back when I next come to san Diego!

This is a place to come when in this area. We did go early afternoon, before 5pm because we have heard about the one mile line to get in once 5pm hits the clock! We did not have to wait at all. Choices are very easy, pork ribs, beef ribs and chicken BBQ. Fabulous ! If you don't like BBQ... More
