Description: For generations of San Diegans, the “Seahorse” symbol of The Marine Room has long stood for its dramatic on-the-surf location and award-winning cuisine by Executive Chef Bernard Guillas and Chef de Cuisine Ron Oliver. Considering this rare blend of culinary excellence, uncompromising service and beachfront setting, it’s no wonder The Marine Room has become a true San Diego landmark. Simply stated, this is fine dining at its finest. Opened in 1941, The Marine Room quickly became famous as pounding surf created dramatic displays against the restaurant's windows. For more than half a century, celebrities, world figures, residents, and visitors have made it a habit to enjoy the spectacular panoramic views of the Pacific and exceptional cuisine. We invite you to San Diego's premier dining destination and experience how each tide brings something new to The Marine Room. You’re not reserving a table – you’re joining a 70-year tradition.

I'm currently in a wheelchair. The wait staff scrambled to make me comfortable and turn my temporary problem into a positive experience. The food was out of this world! View of course to die for. Thank you!

How can you beat waves crashing against the shore and the windows of a restaurant, incredible food and fantastic service? That's the Marine Room - actually in the town of La Jolla - a short drive from San Diego. I've been to the Marine Room several times - but this time was a couple of days after a full moon... More

We've been here numerous times and never have I been more displeased than tonight. Service horrible - had to tell our waitress to get the food. Lamb, ordered medium rare, was so raw they recooked it and removed from bill. When you feel neglected, its really hard to overcome. Especially when you're celebrating a big milestone. Yes, we'll return. For... More

This happens to be our favorite restaurants for celebrating an anniversary or any special occasion. The food has always been outstanding and the service impeccable. Although a little pricey, the uniqueness in gourmet offerings is worth the price. The views are especially spectacular at sunset, and if you experience the high tide dinners, you will never forget the occasion. I... More

Our six person business group had a wonderful dinner. The food, wine, view, and service were all superb. Fortunately I didn't have to pay the bill, I'm sure it was expensive but it was a dining experience. I had the steak and lobster tail. The sauce on the steak was a bit strong for my liking but the butter sauce... More

The restaurant has terrific ocean views, but aside from that, it's only average -- and quite expensive. So, if you're not paying your way, I think it might be worth a visit, but otherwise not. The dinner entree selections can be somewhat interesting (for example, Cervena Elk and Venison Loin), but the menu could use some (or maybe a lot... More

The upside: Entering the restaurant feels like a step back in time to the elegant dining of the 50s. The fare is pretty classical californian cooking, big tastes and wines to match. The downside: A major step back in time ! There is not enough innovation for a restaurant in this price range. The service was stiff and rather contrasting... More

This is a La Jolla gem. This restaurant has an amazing history, fantastic view...but the food and service always keeps us coming back. I have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and graduations here, and the staff has always gone above and beyond to make it special. Be sure to mention you want an ocean table and any special occasion, when making your... More

The Marine Room has it all. The view is fantastic and the food is outstanding. Many times you go to a restaurant that has a spectacular view and the food is average. This is not the case with this restaurant. We have been to the Marine Room several times and it has always been a wonderful experience. The views are... More

This is a restaurant that's lasted for decades. Good (but classically old) atmosphere, with service and style maintained in 50's elegance. A little pricey in this day and age, but quality food. Best time is to watch the sunset from the picture windows. If you're looking to impress, go here.
