Not what we expected

Too expensive, small portions, quite average flavors. The mexican mole with a touch of french was not good at all. They should go back to traditional mole

Candela's has an amazing view of the downtown San Diego skyline - especially from the upper deck. Their people were consistently friendly over 3 visits and the food was very good. Service was a bit relaxed, but they were great at refilling drinks.

Candelas offers a fantastic view of San Diego from Coronado island. The restaurant is nice with good ambience. Having eaten there before when it was a different restaurant, I was happy to see that Candelas had a much more reasonably (not cheap) priced menu and a wider array of choices. We had the Penne Madero, as recommended by the very... More

Service was a bit typical and we hoped for more attention but food was great and the location is perfect

Variety of dishes, a Mexican soup that I have not eat in a long time very well cooked tasted delicious, the rib French style with wine was cooked in a medium way that sometimes is difficult to find, dessert was European style very well decorated, the wine well served, just a great dinner.

With huge windows right on the waterfront you couldn't find a better place to enjoy delicious Southwest cuisine. No refried beans and rice here! The food was beautifully presented and very flavorful. And the House Margarita's were great!

Dinner at Candelas in the Gas Lamp area of San Diego. There was a large convention in San Diego and since the convention center is next to the Gas Lamp area it can get very crowded. So Candelas become full after we began our dinner and it was very noisy. We had a steak taco appetizer and it was was... More

Given all the choices in San Diego, this one was just so-so; you can do better. The server was pleasant but not especially competent. The food was unobjectionable and unmemorable. What else need I say?

Went with some colleagues after conference. The main course portions looked OK but the slices of cake were ludacrisly small and cost $8.50. I would try to get into another restaurant. At least Candelas is still open after 9pm.

I really like this restaurant. There's actually two of the same restaurant one's in the gaslamp area the other is on Coronado. But both have totally diffent menus same owner though. The food was great. I had the crepes stuffed with crab and lobster meat with peppers and cheese. Delicious! My only criticism is where we sat. You can sit... More
