Last night I frequented Baleen in Mission Bay for the first time for 2009 Restaurant Week. Although I have lived in SD for a few years I had no idea this restaurant even existed! The winter heat wave we are having allowed us to sit outside on the deck over looking the bay. Next time I come I'll arrive early... more

Went to Baleen's last night. A much touted restaurant - but I'm not sure why. Lots of problems in one dinner for two. The appetizer was served in a piping hot dish, but the lamb raviolo in the dish was stone cold in the middle. Entree was supposed to be gorgonzola crusted filet mignon. Beautiful view and good service. Food just okay and outrageously priced. I enjoyed the warm asparagus salad. The mussels (appetizer) were very fishy and seemed a little undercooked.
