Stopped by during a recent trip to San Diego. Loved it! Food was excellent and the service was exceptional. If not for the sign placed on the corner, we would have never found this place. I am glad we did.

I was not very impressed with our lunch today. Maybe it was what we ordered but I would expect that a Greek salad at a Greek restaurant would be better than average. I found that the salad drenched in dressing and soggy as if they made a big batch and it had been sitting for a while as opposed to... More

We often come to this restaurant when in San Diego. The prices are reasonable, the food is very good, and the atmosphere is nice (especially since they have remodeled. This is a family owned place and it's always nice to see the extended family eating at the restaurant. They always make you feel welcome. Parking can be a problem here,... More

Used to stop at Athens Market frequently but the quality declined so we stopped going. Went by the other night for the first time in a few years. Had a great meal. From appetizers to soups to entree to dessert --- everything was perfect. Service much improved as well. As before, Mary has priced her food very reasonably compared to... More

If you want to go to Greece without paying for airline tickets and hotels, Athens Market is a good substitute. Very good Greek food and a lot of Greek culture ooze from this "find".

When you're in a different city you really ought to try out DIFFERENT dining establishments - yet I found myself at the Athens Taverna TWICE; it was so good. The portions are gigantic, the food and flavors are amazing, and the service was fine. My only complaint would be that it was perhaps a bit loud; but that's because everyone... More

I recently dined again at Athens Market after not visiting for a number of years. Mary and her staff are most gracious and make the experience memorable. The menu has many flavorful and savory choices at reasonable prices. Overall, an excellent choice for lunch or dinner when in San Diego!

If you enjoy Greek cuisine you are in for a treat. Always go to this restaurant whenever I am in San Diego at least once. I have family who live downtown and this a regular haunt for them.

To be fair, we recently returned from 3 weeks in Greece, and this restaurant doesn't quite stack up. The pastichio was very good. The lamb shank special was over seasoned (in our opinion) and trimmed to a very small portion. The atmosphere seems somewhat formal; service was good.

One day we felt like Greek while downtown but didn't want to walk over to the Seaport Village spot; so we tried Athen's Market 2 blocks away from home. Looking in you think it may be a bit pricey by the wonderfully set tables and ambience (not to mention primary lawyer clients); BUT the value offered here will pleasantly surprise.... More
