I absolutely love old town! Food is authentic, fresh, and absolutely delicious! The tortillas were my favorite part. The service was wonderful as well. If you love Mexican food like me, you'll love old town. Also, if you have kids, they have a great kids menu. Would recommend to anyone.

First the good: despite being a large mexican restaurant in the middle of the most touristy "mexican" spot in San Diego, the food is pretty good. The tortillas are outstanding and, frankly, I could have eaten them with just salsa and guac and been perfectly happy. Their organic margarita is simple and simply delicious - just tequila, agave nectar, and... More

Skip the tourist traps in the state park and head down Old Town avenue to the locals favorite. Waits can get long during summer months but after Labor Day until Memorial Day is best.

My hubby and I shared a chicken and steak fajita dinner. My meat was so dry my husband could hardly swallow it. I mostly are beans and veggies which were great. Great deal on a Margarita. I loved the tortillas. Didn't like that while there for only about an hour we were interrupted 3 different times to buy something. A... More

Some people like fake Chinese food at PF Changs and Pick Up Stix. Some people like fake Mexican food at El Torito and Taco Bell. Some people think that The Olive Garden is a really nice fancy Italian restaurant. Old Town Mexican Cafe...is this real authentic Mexican food? I finally ate here after 15 years as a San Diegan...I don't... More

Followed a recommendation by a local shopkeeper -- a mistake! Dry chicken, greasy pork and heavy tortillas. Total bust on flavor...even the pico de gallo had a funny smell to it. Waste of a precious vacation meal in a city with otherwise terrific food choices. Also, very oddly, our server announced she was going on break at 12:10PM -- the... More
