I always like fresh made tortillas and this is the place to get them. The margaritas were ok. I ordered the mexican baby back ribs thinking it will be spicy and tender but was very disappointed that the meat was dry and bland and it does not come with any sauces. The salsa looked like it come out of a... More

We were attracted by the old ladies who made tortillas by hand at the entrance and hoped it was a real restaurant beyond the look of theme park from outside. Food was good and reasonably priced. Home frozen margaritas were excellent!

Whenever we're in San Diego, we have to make a stop here for lunch or dinner. The carnitas and hand made tortillas are not to be missed. Living in LA, Anaheim and San Pedro, traveling through out Mexico, I've had my share of good and bad Mexican food. Old Town Mexican Cafe is my favorite, I just wish I lived... More

I am not real excited about Mexican food, but I was with 6 others and went. I had shrimp that was tasty and everyone thought the food was excellent. The whole meal include 3 rounds came to $140 for 6 people. So it wasnt that expensive

Can't travel to Mexico? No problem.... Old Town Mexican Cafe is an authentic restaurant. Breakfast, lunch or dinner is delicious ~ Try the pozole...One of the best in this side of the border. Hand made tortillas are a must. The Margaritas need work, specially the $3.00 they offered. We like sitting inside as the patio chairs are uncomfortable. Enjoy!

This place had people waiting both nights while other places were empty. Probably because the food is great. Service was a little lackluster but they redeemed themselves by the end of the meal. Mole, guac and Cocktales were some of the best I have had. The Ultimate Margarita was great the first night (no sweet Marg Mix used :)) but... More

Grew up in SD, been coming here for years. Food and service is still excellent, especially the enchiladas and tacos. Didn't enjoy getting hit up for picture taking, rose buying! I was with my sister both times, and both felt like they were trying to squeeze more cash out of us. Not cool.

We only had drinks at the Old Town Mexican Cafe and they we good. We event got free salsa and chips with our $5 margarita drinks. The salsa was excellent. The other drinks were not too expensive. The food actually looked and smelled good; however, we had already eaten at another establishment.

We lived in San Diego for 30 years & still visit San Diego often, and "Old Town Mex" is always on our agenda. Try the carnitas.

My husband and I are big fans of the Old Town Café. We always plan at least one meal there and sometimes more. The enchiladas are our favorite and the chips and salsa, oh and the homemade tortillas. It is always a busy place and you might have to wait a few minutes, but it is worth the wait. We... More
