The service is horrible. Very slow with everything. The flour tortillas were delicious, the rest of the food was kind of just ok. The ambiance is cute. Really the biggest downside of this place is the exceptionally slow service.

We wandered in based on good TA rating. Were hungry but did not want full meals....decided to split one of the daily specials (7 street tacos.....no rice it beans). We were able to mix beef, chicken and tried the avodada (spicy chunks of pork). All excellent.....they were not shy on the meat in each taco either....great flavor. Both indoor and... More

Went looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant in Old Town. Having seen the tortillas being made fresh I decided to eat there. It turned out to be a disappointment. The atmosphere was not great and the service was offhand and neglectful. My fish tacos were bland and tasteless. The guacamole had no oomph to it - it was also very... More

Visited this restaurant with local family for dinner and I was looking forward to a nice dinner that didn't happen. Ordered the enchiladas with the green sauce, but was delivered the red. Plate went back to the kitchen, but the chicken enchiladas with the hot, spicy green sauce was not what I had envisioned. Pitcher of margaritas was $23, then... More

Ordered the "famous" carnitas, crispy. Dry and tasteless. May they are better if not ordered crispy. Flour tortillas were warm and good, the best part of the meal. Not sure what all the hoopla is about. I've had better Mexican food in Portland, OR.

The homemade tortilla smell coming from the place made us stop to eat dinner here. I was super excited to take a bite of their fresh tortillas and....they were not great. It tasted like they needed to cook them a minute longer, they had that raw flour taste to them a bit. I ordered the fajitas and while the meat... More

We were looking forward to some authentic Mexican food in Old Town San Diego. We were very disappointed in the Old Town Mexican Cafe. Although our waiter was friendly, the tacos were terrible - dripping grease and no flavor/spice. We will definitely never eat there again.

This is a great Mexican atmosphere restaurant in the Old Town section. I had carnitas, a savory dish of pulled pork grilled crispy and served like fajitas with tortillas and cilantro with raw onion. Hard to find this done right- crispy yet savory. The tortillas are made by the front door in the window and are the best I've tasted... More

This place is worth the wait. The molcajete and tequila braised ribs are fantastic. They have a variety of tequilas and sell house wines very affordably by the carafe or half carafe. Go put yourself on the list. This place is amazing.
