In Old Town

Outstanding. Don't let its location fool you. It is above a liquor store. But once you walk upstairs it has class and ombiance with white linens. I got their signature dish-- Mole. LOVED IT! Had their margaria, too. A great place for lunch or a special dinner.

This a small place with their decorations consisting of walls of tequila. The food is incredible and different than anything I have had before. The shrimp in my dish were amazing the margaritas were great. Highly recommend this place

This is what you call an upscale Mexican restaurant. You won't find tacos, burritos and refried beans combo here. You will find over 2,000 bottles of tequilas lining the walls and some great upscale Mexican cuisine. Regular price is not cheap. Entres are $20 - $40. A full meal will run you close to $100pp. We hit it during restaurant... More

Have dined at El Agave twice and was very pleased both times. This is upscale Mexican food that is much better than in run of the mill Mexican restaurants. Try this place out, you won't be disappointed.

Over 2000 bottles of Tequila line the walls, don't expect the typical menu, fantastic Mole! They do everything right especially the drinks. Not cheap but worth it for a special night out

Hundreds of Tequilas and a more upscale gourmet Mexican menu that rarely dissapoints and does seafood particularly well. The surrounding Old Town provides a venue to stroll a bit to sober up before the drive home.

Very good Mexican food, with a special note for their mole dishes. They are also renowned for their large range of tequilas.

Best Tequila bar by far. They have it all. Have a shot of 1942 or Romantico with your meal. The food is delicious. A modern spin on traditional recipes. The mole is my favorite. I love the ambiance of the place. Its nice and relaxing during the day and romantic in the evening. On my top 10 list of places... More

An “escape from the touristy tortilla chip–giant margarita experience” so common in Old Town, this “upscale” “favorite” is rated the No. 1 Mexican in San Diego thanks to its “sensational” moles and other “mind-blowin... At a glance: traditional mexican · gourmet mexican · shredded pork · tequila museum · filet mignon
