Pricey for average food

The food was nothing special. What will draw you in are the pretty sidewalk hostesses who pull you in from the posted menu board on the sidewalk. Lunched there twice. The scallop and shrimp appetizer, caprese, linguine alla vongole - were all above criticism. Excellent service. Fair price. No consequences. Reminded a family ristorante somewhere in Venezia: very simple and very tasty.

First time visitor but will definitely be back. Once you walk in you would swear you were in Little Italy in NYC. The food is exceptional. The veal chop was the best I have ever eaten (between San Diego and Venice including Boston and NYC). The special Caprese salad was awesome: the mozzarella was made on site and the addition... More

We chose Asti as we love Italian food. The food was wonderful!! We sat outside on the patio and people-watched. It's an awesome location in the middle of the Gaslamp Quarter. The food was excellent, as was the service.

We enjoyed our last evening in San Diego at this lovely family Italian venue. The setting was charming. Yes, loud and somewhat cramped for space, but this only added to it's charm. The food and service were outstanding. Highly recommend - make a reservation through Open Table in advance to avoid a wait on weekends.

I had the pleasure of eating dinner one night with a large group of associates and Asti went out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable dining experience. The restaurant itself is like many others in Gaslamp, with a small seating area outside and an inside that's not very wide but goes back a bit. Looks like... More

pretend-italian food. quality average and below and above average prices. fake-friendly owner and waiter. wine: the bottle ordered was listed as $40.00 but charged at $85.00, and no amount of discussion with waiter and owner was able to obtain correct price. not wanting to make a major scene, we paid, but will NEVER return to what we consider a major... Had a dinner with business associates, and we were duly impressed. Very good wine choices, and reasonable. Location is great and easy walk from most Gas Lamp district hotels. Food was excellent, and genuine Italian. We tried a couple of the chef's specials and were very pleased. As a smallish style restaurant, the main room was quite loud. Wait staff... More

First time eating here; was suitably impressed. I had an early solo dinner, and it was relatively mild out so I sat at an outside table. My server was a very personable guy who knew the food well and talked a lot about things to do in San Diego (me = tourist). The menu looked to be quite extensive, with... More

We were pleasantly surprised at how great our food tasted. With so many Italian restaurants to choose from I was skeptical that we picked the right one. Definitely picked the right one. I love Italian food and this one is a winner. Can't wait to go back!
