Best Tortilla Chips in Town!

We love the burritos at El Indio, but definitely come here for the chips. The salsa is legit as well. Fun fact? El Indio creates specialty tortilla chips for many holidays - for instance, black and orange chips around Halloween, red, pink and white chips near Valentine's Day, etc. How cool is... read more

Folks, like myself who have lived in Austin, know that there is only one place outside of Austin that comes anywhere near close to competing. That is just north of Downtown San Diego on the way to Old Town on India street parallel to I-5. Atmosphere, smell, taste and seasoning tell you that you have almost excelled Austin Tex-Mex .... Hand down this place is the best Mexican food I've ever had. The restaurant is very clean. The cashier who rang me up was very helpful with my making menu choices. He didn't stir me wrong. The food was delicious!

Your trick with El Indio is timing it right. If you hit here at lunch or dinner prime time you will have huge waits. Try to eat here in off hours like 4pm for dinner or 1pm for lunch. I have never had a bad experance, love these guy and a great place to eat before or after a trip... More

I recently took a group of high school seniors from NH out to San Diego for their class trip. 28 of us went in with only a 15 minute warning and not only did they get our food out quickly, it was delicious! I could definitely taste the difference from the Mexican food we are given on the east coast.... More

I only went to this restaurant because of Guy review on Diners. He was not truthful. The food I purchased tasted like it had been dumped out of a can. Taco Bell would have been a better choice. Don't believe Guy review of restaurants. He really missed the boat on this one. Shame on you Guy!

When they hand you a hot corn tortilla that's been rolled off of the press 1 second before you realize you've come somewhere special!!! The sidewalk patio across the street reminds you of 1970's beach city flavor and when the whether is nice its the perfect meal.

Another trip to San Diego, to visit family and friends.... after a beautiful morning at the Zoo we decided El Indio was the place to go for Great Mexican Food.....not the same as years past. :( The staff seem rushed, not really interested (it was 2pm on a Tuesday, not busy). Our order was taken at the counter with no... More

Carne Asada tacos were the best thing we had there. Would not go out of your way to go here but very close to airport to give it a try. Sorry but would not go back unless I happen to be driving by
