Another local favorite. Everything here is good. Meal portions are plentiful -- and the food is made fresh. They have the best cinnamon tortilla chips. You'll love them. The line can be long at peak times. Seating is limited, but the tables seem to turn fast enough that you aren't waiting for tables. They have a fresh salsa bar to... More

San Diego has changed dramatically in the past 75 years, but you get the sense that El Indio hasn't changed a bit as it approaches its diamond anniversary. Not everything here is great - the chips and burritos aren't anything special -- but the taquitos and cinnamon chips are outstanding. This is a great, simple place, but expect long lines.... More

Super good. Menu is very accurate. Kind of spicy. Feels like you're in Mexico when you sit outside in the garden area. Would go again.

This was the first stop after landing in San Diego! El Indio has been around forever, was turned on to it years ago during my first visit to San Diego, have not looked back since. I always go at least once if not more during any visit. I'm hooked on the homemade chips and salsa. Food is always great no... More

Well hyped place that didn't live up to our expectations. You order from a counter, find a seat and pick up your order when called. The food was just so-so, we've had much better Mexican food than this. They weren't very friendly in there either, won't go back

Good food, reasonably priced. Always busy but they have additional outdoor seating across the street.

Every time we head to San Diego, the kids get excited knowing we will be having a meal at El Indio. The taquitos are heavenly. Every time they update their status on Facebook and post a photo of their platters, my mouth waters. Staff is always friendly, you get a ton on your plate and the freshly made chips are... More

No big production here - just great food! The staff are friendly and efficient. Food is standard Mexican fare - cooked fresh and well. Yum!

if you see this place for what it is - Mexican American food, then just enjoy it. Some things are authentic: the tortillas (probably the best in San Diego County), fresh salsas, and rolled tacos. They use yellow cheese, which Mexicans do not, but that's okay. The yellow cheese merits the title of "Mexican American" rather than Mexican food. We... More
