Anthony's Fish Grotto's was established in 1946 by Mama Catherine Ghio. It set and continues to set the standard for fresh seafood dining in San Diego. Mama believed in letting the freshness show through and not using overwrought and fussy preparations. Fresh seafood simply prepared. The waterfront Anthony's sits atop piling over San Diego Bay. The views and sunsets are spectacular. The large dining room can accommodate families and large groups and the Lounge/bar area is perfect for that more intimate dining experience. The menu features an array of seasonal fresh catches along with a multitude of favorites from Fish n Chips to Lobster Tails. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options are available.

Nice place, nice food, great view

Old established restaurant and the food is fresh and tasty. Nothing terribly out of the ordinary and the preparation has been the same for years.

We love to eat there when we are in San Diego. They have one of the best bread they serve you before the meal. I loves the fish they serve. As you can see we like eating there. It is to bad that they are trying to closed them down so they can put fancy and a better name there.... More

Great atmosphere over looking the bay, that is it's beat feature. I had the lunch special where you can choose two types of fish. I did Cod and Salmon. OK sized pieces but one of them was paper thin. Wife and sister had fish and chips. Lightly breaded and tasty. Overall I thought the food was OK but did not... More

We ate a late lunch/early dinner at the Fishette, and it was mobbed with diners. Beautiful views of SD Bay. I had the shrimp and fish plate. Both were delicious, but next time I will order just the fish, as it was really good. The coleslaw is very good. Also good is their New England clam chowder. The Fishette is... More

Thank you for taking the time to send in your positive comments about Anthony's Fishette, our quick service outdoor patio dining spot on the waterfront. We work a giving great product at a reasonable price. Sadly, if the Port of San Diego has their way Anthony's and the Fishette will be gone and prices will go sky high to cover... More

Anthony's is a nice restaurant with a view of the San Diego harbor. My husband & I had a glass of wine in the bar area While we waited some friends that wanted some seafood and an ocean view. This was a perfect spot for dinner. Nice variety on the menu. For appetizers we had crab stuffed mushrooms and calamari.... More

Dear Cindy: from reading your review it sure seems like you had a nice evening at Anthony's. We try to achieve that with every guest. You enjoyed some of my favorite items, especially the King Crab Legs. We only use the Large upper part of the leg and split it for easy access; no long skinny meatless legs at Anthony's.... More

Takes reservations, little wait once we got here - seating at window is best in my opinion. Overlooking the bay and very nice view at night. Excellent price quality. Public parking available along the waterside, left and right of restaurant.

Looking for a place to eat lunch that had a view, we chose Anthony's. The food was good - rather standard. Our server was wonderful - very friendly and attentive. The view was enjoyable.

Thank you for dining with us and nice to read you enjoyed the overall experience. We are traditional seafood so we don't get to fancy and we have some very interesting items, such as; Salmon Rueben Sandwich on marble rye, Squid steak sandwich on ciabatta, Swordfish Mediterranean and a spicy Snapper Ranchero. Great location! Went at sunset and it was beautiful. Sailboats floating by and even an old submarine was docked outside the window. Service was excellent and food was OK. We had a large party and they got us in and out in a timely manner.

There cannot be many places in San Diego where you have fantastic views of the harbor and city and eat delicious fresh seafood at bargain prices. Anthony's is located right on the edge of the harbor. A window table here offers fantastic views of the harbor, day or night. Other locations within the restaurant still offer great views of the... More
