Fig Tree Cafe first opened in Pacific Beach in 2008 and has now opened its second location in the heart of Hillcrest. Our menu changes with the seasons as we use in-season, locally grown products. Our PB location was voted best Brunch in San Diego 2010 and we"re excited to bring this award winning cuisine to Hillcrest. Our dinner menu features items such as Short Ribs, Fig and Prosciutto Pizza, Lobster Ravioli, rosemary, thyme and lemon marinated Jidori Chicken, along with a moderately priced, eclectic wine list. We take great pride in our friendly, inviting and unpretentious style of service.

Great Coffee and Breakfast

Great coffee, delicious food and welcoming, friendly staff. My bacon was cooked perfectly (not too crispy, which seems to be the preference here in the States), the house potatoes were tasty and the lattes were foamy and well made. Went back the next day for more coffee and some coffee cake. A... read more

This location is small, but the brunch was fabulous! I love the urban location and decor. We will be back .

This is the first restaurant we went to in Hillcrest and were most impressed by the interior of the restaurant. We had a small wait and they brought us water while we waited which was a nice gesture. Our waiter answered our questions about the menu and we felt that we were well looked after. I had the fish taco... More

3 of us had dinner. Started with 2 apps- Man candy bacon, was v good. Tasty strips of bacon, roasted in maple syrup and seasonings. We loved it. Also, shared a kale-Apple-pecan salad, as an app. Very tasty, with citrus vinaigrette-- loved this, too! Our server was v kind and helpful. Helped us with menu selections, including wine. We ordered a... More

We had a large group of 10 (6 adults, 4 kids) for breakfast, so got there early (basically, right after they opened) to get a table. Definitely recommend that if you have a big group. Food was fine, but service was really slow - they didn't seem to want to come and take our order, and even drinks took a... More

Wow, I'm really sorry that I suggested this place to my friend. Had lunch at this place today. Didn't care for it at all. I ordered the meatloaf hash with eggs. The eggs were so overcooked I couldn't eat them. The hash itself was not very good either kind of soggy texture and bland. My friend's sandwhich was ok but... More

The gluten free pizza was out of this world! The atmosphere is great, and the service was friendly. Would definitely try it again!

We stopped here and really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was exceptional and so was the wait staff, The wine list was fantastic and they had reasonably priced options. We had appetizers and pizza and everything we had was really good; by far the best was the 'jars'. I definitely view this as a must do in the Hillcrest area.

My husband and I found this little spot online, and we were not disappointed. He ordered an omelet and I ordered french toast. I can't describe how good the French Toast with an orange infused syrup was. I'm definitely going to try to revisit this place.

Visited on New Years Eve, so only tasted the special menu of the night. The roasted chicken with potatoes and garlic spinach was to die for! Had a great salad to start, yum. Sat in comfy banquette against the wall, but my companions said the chairs were also comfy. Service polite and unobtrusive. The place filled up very fast. My... More
