Great new bakery in La Jolla

Let's just say this bakery/cafe, located close by my home, is not helping my diet! The baked goods are delicious and I really like the coffee too. Turns out they use Cafe Calibria coffee, local in San Diego. Excellent stuff! I plan to try a little bit of everything, with time. Nice and casual... read more

We arrived just three days after opening at their new location in La Jolla.Four of us went for breakfast. We had to order at the cash desk then choose a table, and wait for our food. Giving our order took some time as the cashier was new. Once seated the coffees arrived first, excellent cappuccino.Three had orange juice but one was... More

There were five us and we all tried something different. Not a one was a disappointment. I love trying new bakeries and am so glad we didn't pass this one by. I wish I could have tried everything I wanted to, but I'd still be there.

This was recommended to me by a former guest of mine when I was a Concierge in Maine. From the outside it looks like the cutest cupcake and sweets shop, but also boasts some amazing breakfast. On the owner's recommended, I had the bacon, sunny side up egg and three cheese croissant with arugala. It was a a purely scrumptious... More

Staying at the Crystal Pier, we walked to the bakery to buy my 'Birthday' cake. We selected 3 regular cupcakes and we selected several of the minis. The cake was moist, flavors are intense and the icing was very good. I believe these cupcakes are better than the 'over rated' Sprinkles'. I would definitely make a special stop to buy... More

We stopped at this beautifully decorated bakery, cafe style. I felt I was in a small town bakery, the (forgot her name-sorry) owner/baker comes from a long line of bakers from Ireland. The pictures on the wall give you an idea that this is done as an art. We had not tasted our purchases but on our drive back home... More

My wife and i went to this place based on a recommendation from the owner of the house we are renting in Mission Beach. The first time, we stopped by for pastries with coffee and tea. The second time was to pick up some of great looking cup cakes we saw for dessert with friends.... We have now lost count!... More

This place is nothing but sugary homemade deliciousness! We just happened to walk by this place while we were on vacation and I'm so glad we did! The owner was very nice and even made sure to tell us how great the fresh scones would be if we popped them in the microwave (and they were!). My favorite were the... More

I had driven by many a time and finally decided to try them when the occasion arose for my son's birthday. They did an adorable Cars-themed cake. It was fantastic -- triple-layer lemon with raspberry in between plus buttercream frosting. When I came in to pick it up a) they were super friendly and b) I realized I must return... More

Upon our arrival in Pacific Beach for our month long stay, I walked Garnet Ave to see what business are opened or have closed since our visit a year ago. Sugar and Scribe opened just over a year so I stopped in to check out the goodies. OMG, I made 4 trips there within my first two weeks. Pear and... More
