We randomly chose Royal Thai while taking in the Gaslamp district and we're so glad we did. It looks like they were renovating inside, so we gladly ate outside on the patio area. Having travelled through Thailand last year, we've found it's really hard to find a Thai restaurant in North America that compares, but this was hands down the... More

When ordering the Thai shrimp salad with noodles, I expected more then a few leaves of salad with some fried noodles and some shrimp on top with to much dressing for my liking. The service was not very friendly at all and I felt that I was not welcome at all.

We happened to be in the Gaslamp district and looking for a good, reasonable meal for dinner. There are a wide array of choices. However, with a Padre's game about to start at Petco stadium, we didn't want a noisy environment. So, we opted for this place which was situated on a corner and looking quite inviting. There were quite... More

Bland flavourless dishes (difficult to achieve with Thai food) didn't taste particularly fresh and lazy service. I get the impression that because of the location and the guarantee of a steady flow of customers they couldn't care less about your individual experience.

Very nice interior. Very clean. Reviews on this restaurant are mixed, at best. Most folks loved or hated it. I was in the middle, but closer to the 'love' side than 'hate'. My wife and I had lunch here. Soup was delicious. Salad that comes with special wasn't worth eating. Rice was good and sticky. My curry was good, but... More

Pad Thai was bland...almost as bland as the pineapple rice. Wasn't the cleanest place I've ever been either. Only positive was the service. Wouldn't go back.

My friend was a vegetarian, While we were trying to find a restaurant that had a better vegetarian option in gaslamp district, we came across this restaurant. It was not too busy on a Sat night. The price for entree was reasonable. I have the royal duck which was the signature dish of the restaurant. The duck was crispy, although... More

The food was really good but.... the waitress needed some major help. Our drinks were not correct. We accidentally received spring rolls only to have them taken away from us as we all looked questioningly at who ordered them. My meal arrived at least 5-10 mins after everyone else's and the waitress walked by our table multiple times without saying... More
