Asian dishes with delightful tastes in this small neighborhood of San Diego. Both non-vegetarian and vegetarian dishes are featured on the menu....and homemade tofu for the vegetarians. I return to this restaurant periodically and am always pleased with my choices.....in fact an almost "plate licking" desire when finished....and very affordable. YUM!

I used a restaurant.com certificate, and maybe because of the forced 18% gratuity, the service was just not great. Slow and we had to ask for everything. The vegetarian menu is awesome though! They also give you free salad and free ice cream dessert. The food is good, so I'd definitely would go back.

The ambience at Tao is lovely; dimly lit and intimate. Has potential to be TOO intimate as me and the Ol' Man were sat VERY close to another couple. We basically had dinner with another couple. Needless to say, it was a litle awkward and it inhibited dinner conversation. Tao takes reservations for parties of six plus. We arrived at... More

Deciding to become vegetarian a few months ago was kind of a scary and confusing thing, but I knew it was something I wanted to do. Tao was on my list of restaurants to try in the area that offer specifically prepared vegetarian dishes, and I am so glad I did. It is smaller than I expected but that was... More

That being said, the nonvegetarians in our group did quite nicely as well. The waitress (Cody) was as helpful as she was attractive, and explained the various dishes in detail. The prices were very reasonable, and portion sizes were good. The decor consists of patrons writing comments on the walls, so if ambiance is important this is probably not for... More

TAO is one of several small restaurants that have made the Normal Heights neighborhood of San Diego a foodie mecca. A tiny place tucked under the Normal Heights neighborhood sign on Adams Avenue, it is worth seeking out for excellent Vietnamese, Thai and Korean cuisine. Ingredients are locally sourced and flavorful, the menu diverse and the service friendly and efficient.... More

We really enjoyed our dinner here. Very fresh, vibrant flavors that felt to us like a mix among Vietnamese, Korean and Chinese ingredients. The home-made tofu is very good and we also really enjoyed the soups. Prices are very reasonable. The place is small so make a reservation for larger parties.

Went for dinner one night and were pleasantly surprised. Good food, wait staff and more. All dishes were good with a decent spice at 6 (1-10, but we love spicy!). We all sampled from each other and the general vote was that the garlic fish was nothing short of the best dish! SOOOOOOOOOO good!

Food is good and decent portions. Complimentary salad and dessert included. Hot food is meant to be hot, all plates are cold and due to meals not arriving together the food is tepid by the time you start to eat it. WARM THE PLATES!!! Its not science, it's good practice guys, don't spoilt the food by overlooking the finer details.

They close after lunch and open at 5pm and already a small line was forming. It is a small place and the decor is very urban with writting from customers all over the wall. They have an amazing vegetarian menu and I had the mango mock duck nuggets in plum sauce and it was heaven. My friends had the same... More
