We chose this from a recommendation in Fodors. Bad idea. Margaritas, served in a standard glass, were fair at best. Nachos were taco chips out of a bag with barely warm beans and the cheapest melted cheese. No flavor to speak of. Looking at other people's dishes, it was clear that this place serves the kind of pretend-Mexican filler that... More

Occasional slow service and overpriced entrees but awesome taco Tuesday deals. This place can get super busy so be prepared to wait!

I love the potato tacos and barrio margaritas here! The service is not awesome, but luckily the food makes up for it. They have great happy hour specials and often run deals on groupon and living social!

Stopped in for lunch an was pleasantly surprised. Excellent food with fresh ingredients and reasonable portions. I had the fish tacos which were among the best I have had, and the rice and beans were so good I actually finished them. My favorite part was a side portion of posole.

Mexican gothic ambiance with an authentic mexican dinner menu. Salsa and hand made corn tortillas were spot on and what you'd expect for traditional Mexican fare. Chile rellenos were good (El Agave in Old Town owns the best) as were the spicy tacos. The torta was very well prepared and the brazil bowl was enjoyed in spades. Definitely recommend making... We loved Barrio Star. I ordered the Brazillian Chicken Bowl and really enjoyed it. It was filling, felt healthy, and hats off to the chef for a great combination of spices. The service was good. The only complaint I have is that there were a couple of tables of 6-8 people and it was really loud!

A nice spot for lunch. The food was tasty and was served quickly, but the portion was on the small size, surely considering the price. A small bowl of rice, some pees and a kale costs $9. A bottled bear cost $6 more. For half the price u can go to other places. Service was ok, but as soon as... More

I really like this place I have gone with coworkers for lunch many times. This visit I went with my family for a birthday celebration. The food is always great as well as the service.

This is a nice place for upscale tacos. Good ambience, very tasty fish tacos and other menu choices. Not cheap, but a good place for a nice sit-down meal.
