Small joint, great menu. Visited due to other reviews. A bit of a dive, but really good. Service was great, chef was really friendly and polite. Never had Cioppinio before, but it was amazing. Mussels and clams we really fresh and the soup base had just the right amount of heat. It was a little pricy, but I think that... More

The swordfish wrap was to die for while the fish and chips were so-so. The curry tomato ketchup was unique!

I read the reviews, and took my party of 14. Great service; Mercedes was a great host. The food was excellent, and the fish was fresh. I would definitely reccomend anyone that wants a nice, local spot, this is it.

Just left the Escape. Spouse had ordered Shrimp Bruschetta. Sent back twice. Too cool ,then burnt as in charred on bottom. Waitress refunded meal and drink. My daily special was good..? 30$ good not so sure. Keep walking is my advice.. YMMV

We (me, husband and 2 daughters) arrived in San Diego on a Friday afternoon and stopped at Escape for lunch. The prices were average for what we expected. We started off with the mussels and fried pickles. Both were thoroughly enjoyed by all. The mussels were clean, fresh and tasted wonderful. I never had a fried pickle but it was... More

We don't mind expensive if the food is excellent. But that's really not the case here. The calamari was in a tiny little metal tray on wax paper pooled with oil. Not good. Entrees were OK, platters with rice and veggies and the fish of your choice. Not outstanding.

Hello. My name is Scott Quan and I own the restaurant. I apologize that you had a mediocre experience at my restaurant. I believe that, when executed correctly, our food is very good, and I would like another opportunity to convince you of the same. I see that you are from out of town but, if you are still in... More

Went for an early dinner on a weekday, and we were treated to a delicious meal at reasonable prices, served by a very helpful staff. No down side. A great place.

Small, super nice restaurant on 5th ave. It's easy to miss y if you don't pay attention. We were seated right away and were lucky with our timing as a couple minutes later a lot of people came and all tables were filled quickly. Our food (1. grilled fish with vegetables and 2. shrimp tacos) was absolutely fantastic. The taco... More

Blink and you will miss this place. It is in the heart of the Gaslamp district.I had the white sangria and it was very refreshing not too sweet We split the mussel appetizer. They were steamed perfectly and the broth was perfect for dipping the grilled bread that accompanied it.The tacones did not disappoint . The sauce was very flavorful.
