My husband and I stayed in the Gas Lamp district and were looking for casual seafood. This truly was an awesome find! We read the menu which led us to try the Sea Bass Tacone. Probably one of the very best "fish tacos" we have ever had. I hate to call it a taco though because it really was not... More

Mix of mexican food with seafood. The menu is not big, but you can choose your favourite fish and have a taco or other delicious food. It is in the heart of the Gaslamp district and the prices are very convenient. The atmosphere is relaxed and nice decoration. The people there were great and they were very helpful and fast.

This is a moderately priced resto in the heart of the Gas Lamp district with a mostly seafood menu and some Mexican influence. They list only a few inexpensive wines-none that looked interesting. We had sangria, both the red and the white were nothing special (no fresh fruit or interesting spices). We ordered three appetizers: a dish of large juicy... More

Small but great restaurant. Great menu and friendly/knowledgeable staff. We were lucky to get seated when we walked in, but next time if there is a wait, we will not mind.

We stopped here on a Wednesday evening, were warned that they had a party of 20 and would not be able to take our order for quite a while - we didn't care, weren't in a hurry, and sat at a table outside. We then watched a staff of one waiter and the chef serve that entire group, then us,... More

This is an authentic, neighborhood restaurant, not a formula or franchise restaurant. They pride themselves in use of locally obtained fish. The restaurant had an unfortunately fishy, oily odor. The fish was a bit over cooked. The concept is great. There is substantial opportunity for improvement.

Don't let the small, simple space fool you. They know what they are doing. Small menu but everything done right. Go for the tacos

The food was great - a little hole in the wall like everyone has said. No issues with any of the food, we had a party of 5, ordered appetizers and meals and it was great. We were on a business dinner and I'll have to admit, probably one of the better value business dinners we've had. The actual service... More

The Escape is a great little hole-in-the-wall restaurant in the heart of the gaslamp district. The fish tortillas are plentiful and really do the job at a reasonable price. It's a great restaurant to just sit and have a beer too and watch the people go bye.

Little hole in the wall. Some street side seating with heaters - ideal for people watching. Decent wine selection & the menu is limited but very interesting. Service was excellent & very personal. The food was delicious & there was opportunity to tailor the menu to specific tastes. A wonderful evening.
