Solare is located in Liberty Station - an ex-military grounds that was developed by the City of San Diego. Very well done and worth a day just snooping around. My daughter and I entered the grounds looking for a place to eat. There are plenty of choices but we settled on Solare; it looked inviting. The entry is a small,... More

Service is not a strong point here. We've been here several times before and the food quality continues to go down hill. Probably won't be back.

Solare is located in Liberty Square near the bay and the airport. We had an early dinner during happy hour on the first Friday of February and then attended an art walk in the surrounding area. Food is good, and location is good for anyone staying in the area.

While visiting San Diego recently we had dinner one night at Solare. The meal was excellent - particularly the scallops with black truffle risotto. The personal pizza was also outstanding. It could not have been better. I would absolutely go back the next time I visit San Diego - my whole family loved the restaurant!

We had our Christmas Eve Dinner here which consisted of a 4 course Sicilian style meal. This year we decided to splurge a little and opted for their $59 dinner special. It consisted of an appetizer, my wife had Mushroom Bisque soup and I opted for the pear salad the soup was better since the pears were unripe. For the... More

I love this restaurant. I have never had a bad meal here. Maybe I am a bit partial since I am from San Diego, but after spending a year in Italy and getting to know the culture and learning to cook traditional Italian food, I can honestly tell you that you will never have a bad meal here! The atmosphere... More

Cute spot with both indoor and patio dining - nice assortment of salads, soups, paninis, pasta and pizzas. Service was appropriately attentive. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the dessert too! Hazelnut gelato with dark chocolate "salami" rounds...We'll be back!

Solare is another quality restaurant in the Liberty Station district of San Diego. It is walking distance from hotels close by. The menu is a bit limited, but creative. We shared a number of dishes and all were quite tasty. We were well satisfied and likely to return. Francois was our server and he was excellent.

Recently ate lunch here for the first time. A Good variety of Italian food for women seeking organic salads for lunch, and men having panini ,pizza or pasta. The room is spacious, with soft lighting , dark wood floors and tables. Pretty drapes and seat cushions reduce the noise. I enjoyed my butternut squash soup, freshly baked bread, and organic... More

Atmosphere was actually pretty nice, and we love the historic section of Liberty Station. But I must say that the selections we'd made were average at best. I feel it was very overpriced and the waiter was one of the most unfriendly guys I've encountered. Given the other reviews, I chalk it up to just a bad night and a... More
