Solare was one of the most expensive meals we had in San Diego - but having said this, the place is beautiful, the staff very attentive and the food was delicious. Reservations are probably recommended since this place can get crowded. Pasta is top of the line - truly hand made.

Full review and photos: http://bit.ly/1OjWhXl The origin of tasting menus is quite obscure and there are many different theories going as far back as to the Ancient Greeks and Romans who have been reported to serve multi-course menu consisting of 16-20 dishes. Individual courses might not have been as sophisticated as those of today’s cuisine, but these “tasting menus” already... More

Had a New Year's eve party close to our hotel. So we went late at night fater their dinner party. Place was very crowded with what seemed like regulars. Good mixed drinks. Not much place to sit. They had champagne and New Year's eve hats.

Thought it impssible to find but Solare - in Liberty Station, Point Loma, San Diego - has truly delicious Gluten Free pizza! It is so reassuring to see a restaurant that takes GF seriously. Everyone in our party enoyed the food, service was impeccable. Wine recommendations were als spot on. We're definitely coming back!

I attended a nice gathering at this venue with 13 other seminar attendees and it was almost unanimous that all of us thoroughly enjoyed the food, the service and the opportunity to discuss the day's events in this cozy setting. We were seated in a private room, but the staff made us feel like we were the center of their... More

This was true Italian food. Not "red sauce" American Italian. I had Cioppino and my husband had Osso Bucco and both were superb. Great wine list. I could try some new wines I haven't heard of. Good service.

Solare is a sweet little restaurant located in the increasingly popular Liberty Station area do Point Loma. The food is straight forward and the dishes are only "slightly" Americanized. The meat and cheese platter had an impressive, if small, helping of prosciutto and a top-rate Parmesan. The pizza(s) were a little too cheesy, but still good. I'd like to see... More

Overall we enjoyed our recent visit but there was definitely room for improvement. The food was good but not outstanding. The service was also good, but we had some issues. When we arrived, there were open tables, but we were asked whether we had reservations. Since we did not, we were offered a high top table in the bar area.... More

We happened upon Solare during Restaurant Week in San Diego and we glad we did. The special menu was just incredible with foamed parmesan and mushroom, lamb shank osso buco, wild boar pasta, and then fantastic panne cotta to finish. This is a great spot.
