Really Good

Great chips/guacamole, and good lively vibe. The margaritas were arranged nicely and had a solid amount of tequila. I would really recommend this place for business, couples and solo visits.

The carnitas fries and grourmet tacos were amazing!! Think of blending the traditional French fry with the most delicious carnitas. The sauce, meat and cheese were perfect on the fries. Fun atmosphere and yummy food and drinks. Would highly recommend!

The food was fantastic! The server was knowledgable about the drink menu and they had a great beer selection. The food was affordable and you left full.

The food was below ordinary. We had guacamole that sparingly used avacado and had stale chips. If you get really drunk they have pound burritos and fries slopped with cheese and meat. Tequila selection extensive and pricey. Staff wonderfully friendly, but the food was so bad we left most of it and went next door.

Y wife and I ate here early on a friday evening after flying to San Diego from NY. We got there at happy hour and all the drinks and appetizers were half price. They make an excellent margarita that is not too sweet and with just the right amount of kick. We had excellent quesadillas, one with steak the other... More

My sons and I ate here for lunch and everyone walked away full and satisfied! We ordered the Carne Asada Fries. They were delicious and worth every calorie. We also ordered a sampling of the street tacos (we let the server choose) and were delighted with his picks (I like leaving the choices to servers, they always make great selections).... More

While this place is a well attended drinking hole ...be ready to eat some of the best Mexican dishes this side of the border... The quantities are plentiful and the flavors are bold ...my favorite is the Carnitas California plate....and if you like it spicy tell the server to mix both of the recommended sauces... It can be a little... More

We were in town for a convention and were looking for the best Mexican food in the Gas Lamp district. La Puerta didn't disappoint us! Great food and really good service. We did have a 30 minute wait but it was worth it!

Here in SD with my wife and oldest sister to visit some breweries in SD and decided to start off our day with a substantial meal and La Puerta delivered. They brought some housemade chips that were still hot and thick. The two housemade salsas were delicious. I had the Chilaquiles and the others had Huevos Rancheros and nobody was... More
