Average at best for Mexican food in Cali

La Puerta epitomizes the term "dive bar". It is a fairly dumpy restaurant and bar, but the food (tacos and burritos) is really excellent -- so good, in fact, that I had lunch there three days in a row when I was in San Diego. Carnitas tacos are truly excellent, and everyone that I was there with really enjoyed the... More

La Puerta offers 2 times a day happy hours specials. From 3 to 7 and after 10pm. The frozen margarita was a nice surprise, but the suggested low rider a pure pleasure. The staff is very nice and helpful. By the way they do offer excellent food as well and this should be the main reason to come to this... More

This restaurant is in the Gas Lamp district which is fun to stroll through. They have a long bar you can sit at as well as booths. We had the chicken and steak tacos which were awesome. We enjoyed several beers with out meal as well. An awesome meal...highly recommend. Probably not for families with kids, at least not in... More

This is a really great restaurant, with an awesome happy hour - half off of drinks and half off appetizers. I always get the Cochinita Quesadilla - which is amazing. My only complaint is that they rarely offer chips and salsa. I've gone in before and the gave chips and salsa to everyone but me. Yesterday, again - no offer... More

Basically just a bar in GasLamp Nightlife District, but open for lunch too. Tacos are unexpectedly excellent. All three types of pork and the chicken were fresh, clearly made onsite (as were the guacamole and other condiments). Lots of flavour, good size meal for moderate price. If you're in downtown San Diego or on the waterfront, I recommend seeking this... More

It was only a few blocks away from the Convention Center where I was coming from. Great HH! up going environment/crowd and friendly bartenders

This gem was recommended to us by a local and we loved it. Get the shredded pork quesadilla and one of there tasty margaritas or wide varieties of tequilas. Our waiter Jeffrey was awesome. Will go back next time I am in San Diego!

friendly staff, mainly tequila bar. More of Baja Mexican food than authentic Mexican. Mostly Mexican beer on tap. A lot of choices in the area for food and drink.
