Boy, did we ever have a blast here! We wound up coming back two different times....and just couldn't get away from the Hot for Teacher drinks and the Quesadillas. OH, the shrimp quesadillas....my mouth waters every time I think about it!! Next time we will try some other things on the menu, but hey, they had me at

We love stopping in here every time we visit San Diego- which is 1-2 times a year. Love the music, good service and some great food. Love the California burrito and the Carne asada fries. Tip: Mondays they have all night happy hour and definitely start with the guac. We can't wait to go back!

Came for lunch. All was very good- the carnitas burrito was very good. This is authentic mexican, and not "trendy" or anything- just good. I would come back for drinks and to try more food.

In town on business, I had tried to go to La Puerta Sunday night but was too crowded to get a seat even at the bar. I returned the next day for lunch. They don't have fish tacos but had shrimp tacos. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and nicely seasoned. The tacos with corn tortillas, lettuce, and crema. There were... More

Went to La Puerta late on for dinner, on the basis of TA reviews. On a night where much of the Gaslamp Quarter was quiet it was 'happening'. We started with drinks at the bar whilst they found us a table. Drinks were on a 'happy hour' - which seemed to be continuous - and were generous and well made.... More

Ate here after a Padres Game meeting friends pre-cruise. We didn't have reservations but our group of 8 was seated pretty promptly. Server was very patient with our indecisiveness. Drinks kept on coming and food was served hot. It was kind of loud but the restaurant carried the noise level. Everyone enjoyed the Mexican fare, especially the quesadillas.

I was in a rush and there was a 20 minute wait for tables so I decided to sit at the bar since I was alone. I had a very very memorable meal. La Puerta has great atmosphere & friendly service. And it was truly the very best frozen mojito I've ever had.

My wife and I ate brunch here a year ago and absolutely loved it. When we came back to San Diego, she insisted on stopping here again. We had another great meal at a reasonable price. The place is easy to get to and worth the 10-20 minute wait that you can expect.
