My husband and I were looking for a place to watch a couple of World Cup matches in the heart of downtown San Diego. We found this little gem of a place. Good food, nice selection of tequilas, prices are reasonable, and wait staff are efficient and friendly. I really enjoyed their potato flautas, salas are pretty good, if you... More

This is a great authentic Mexican restaurant. My bff and I had the three taco specials for lunch. Each one was better than the next, they were fantastic, some of the best I've ever had! Also had the guacamole. Oh my was it delicious. It is a fun, loud casual place with great food. It was our first visit, and... More

My wife and I stopped in for lunch. She had a breakfast burrito that was piping hot and tasty. I had the surf and turf taco's. They were some of the best tacos I have had. I would definitely recommend this place

The server was fast, friendly, and efficient. The Cadillac margarita (Low Rider) was awesome. The chips and guacamole were fresh and tasty. The street tacos, rice, and beans were delicious. It was overall a perfect meal!!! It is loud with the music and has a fun, semi-crowded atmosphere, but the four of us old timers didn't feel out of place... More

We stumbled across La Puerta one day going to Petco Park for a baseball game on our San Diego trip and it definitely did not disappoint. The food was great and the drinks were even better. I recommend their Purple Haze beverage because it was refreshing and just straight up amazing.

Part of the reason for our trip to San Diego was to go to La Puerta for their carne asada fries. We've tried several other places and nothing comes close. Come between 3 and 7 for half price drinks and appetizers (which includes the carne asada fries).

If your visiting San Diego and want to get a taste for authentic Mexican food, this is the place to go. We went on a Monday and it happened to be Happy Hours, which means that all cocktails and appetizers were half price!! This was a fantastic way to taste different tequila (they have a huge menu) and indulge in... More

Some friends from New York were staying near the Gaslamp and wanted authentic Mexican. We looked online, and La Puerta was very highly rated. Everyone is right. This place is fantastic. Fun atmosphere, lots of people, and always seems crowded. Food was delicious, Our group had tacos, burritos, and salads, and everyone loved what they got. The vegetable garnish served... More

Went here for Sunday brunch - like that they have an actually breakfast/brunch menu, as many other places in the gaslamp don't offer that. 1st time here - place is a bit narrow and seemed a bit dark as it was quite sunny outside. I like the booths across from the bar and they also have large tables for 6... More

La Puerta is a wonderful place to go for drinks, food, or both. They have an extensive drink menu and the food is superb! We met the owners who were so very gracious. The wait staff was top notch and attentive, but you never felt rushed, just taken care of, like you were "regulars". If ever in the area, I... More
