Favourate bar in the Gas Lamp.

We visited La Puerta most nights on our recent trip to San Diego. Monday nights are amazing value. Half price drinks all night. All drinks! Also half price appetisers, which are big enough to have as a meal. As Brits, we always like to sit at the bar! The staff were dashing about with amazing... read more

The Bark at the Moon margarita is the bomb! The serrano chilies make it just hot enough. Also try the Carne Asada Fries. I had never had them and it was like Mexican poutine. So meaty, cheesey, fry-y. Yum! The restaurant has a really fun vibe to it and the wait staff is very friendly.

The absolute, most amaaaaazing carnitas fries EVER! In addition to the great Mexican food (spectacular guacamole too) Monday's at La Puerta offered 1/2 price drinks and appetizers all day long. It's a pretty small place, and its loud...and they say no one under 21 admitted, but we took our teenagers with us and the manager let us in on the... More

Great guac and it had chunks of motzerella in it. Great happy hour prices. Service was on top of drinks.

We've been in San Diego 2 days and have been asking everyone where the best Mexican place was, we've flown 6,000 miles to sample it after all. La Puerta got mentioned a couple of times, of course it's not hardcore Mexican but it's clearly popular. The first plus of the evening once we got a table was finding that on... More

I'd like to check this place out for dinner and drink next time I am in San Diego. This review is for the brunch. We were hung over after a long night and looking for a good place for a good breakfast burrito, so glad that we stumbled upon this place. The decor is really cool, makes you feel like... More

I came here with a coworker during a break from a convention (for lunch) and we were extremely impressed with the taco menu. I don't recall specifically which ones we got but we loved them. The portions were huge and the food was spectacular. The only reason I'm knocking it down from 5 to 4 stars was the bartender. We... More

My wife and I really enjoyed the food here. When we arrived at about 7pm on an Saturday we were told there was an hour wait to sit inside. We were able to get a seat outside near the entrance while we waited and decided to use that as our permanent table. It was a little tight sitting outside with... More

In town for a convention & this was recommended by a local and someone who used to be stationed here. The only thing that kept this being 5-stars was it was a bit loud for my taste. Get the margaritas on the rocks - much better than the frozen. The guacamole was some of the best I ever had. The... More

I was here for a business lunch .. not a regular choice for such a meeting .. but the organizers wanted me to feel the vibe of their city. They did a good job in picking this place. A nice vibe yet not too busy and noisy. Good beers, good food, good service. I'd go again.
