Wear a dark shirt . . . .

My wife, daughter and I called in in our 2nd night in San Diego, staying on nearby Shelter Island. Stay down straight away inside. We were offered outside but it was chilly. Not so inside where it was absolutely roasting! Food options were many. Lots of pasta dishes and being a true Italian, no pizzas: these were available next door... More

I would guess the night we visited was short on servers. Everyone that worked there was so nice and friendly, but you go long period of time without someone taking your order, checking on you, getting your check. We went there about 8:45 PM and ended up staying a LONG time waiting and waiting. The food was OK, but not... More

There was much to like about Pomodoro when my family decided to eat dinner there one night while visiting San Diego recently. The hostess was friendly when we arrived (without reservations), and showed us to a table within a few minutes. The restaurant has a festive, family feel to it, and the menu featured the typical Italian favorites along with... More

I don't know what real Italian is. I've been to Italy, and the food was so underwhelming. This place on the other hand was excellent! This is a great small restaurant that won't disappoint. The staff is also excellent. Everthing from the bread to desert is topnotch. Try this place out, you'll be happy you did.

Went many times to this restaurant and food is always incredible. Huge portions, very tasteful, friendly staf. If you want a real Italian restaurant with great food and a nice atmosphere? Just one place to visit!

Absolutely wonderful dining. Small, as if I am eating in someone's home. Nice outdoor patio (covered). Service is awesome. Even on the fourth of July, a packed house, and the staff worked there tails off, yet was extremely pleasant. I had the lasagna and it was pretty darn awesome. Salad was good, too. A bottle of wine for <$30 and... More

Food and wine was yummy. Pasta melts in your mouth. Everyone at table ordered something different, and all were pleased. I had the gnocchi - with Alfredo sauce "au gratin" -YUMMY! Authentic cuisine and great sea air. Problem with sea air- gnats! Lol. But will definitely come back!!

The pasta was great and the location was fun, but the restaurant was understaffed. We barely saw our waiter and it took a very long time to get the check. Disappointing.

I lived in Italy for years...this restaurant is the real deal. Best atmosphere, best service, best food. People cooking there are actually professional chefs from Italy. We came in July 4th with a large party and they sat us right away and took such good care of us. Everyone was so friendly and the food was fabulous. This is the... More
