Great Italian food!

This restaurant was recommended by the place we were staying. It was an excellent choice for us. It was small and comfortable with great food. The wait staff was very helpful and pleasant despite the humidity and heat due to the unusual weather. We will definitely be back

Our experience was fabulous. The food was delicious. The portions were large. The marinara sauce that comes with the bread is to die for, so was the crème brûlée. The best dishes were the seafood linguini and the ravioli. Giuseppe, our server, made us feel at home with excellent service, humour and good recommendations.

This was a delightful and unexpected treat and a marvelous find! We walked from our hotel, the Kona Kai Resort, about 1.6 miles along the shoreline and were referred to this Italian restaurant by a passerby who lived on board a sailboat. WHAT A RESTAURANT. This is the most authentic Italian place we have found in San Diego. The Calamari... More

Always good here. Portions are large so splitting helps or ask for a box when food is served. Reservations are necessary.

. . . because in your enthusiasm to slurp the last bit of outstanding flavor off your plate, you will spill it before it gets to your mouth. No, I don't really eat that way. It takes a spectacular salmon ravioli in leek-cream sauce to put me over the edge. Or a falling off the bone ossobucco roasted all day... More

My wife, daughter and I called in in our 2nd night in San Diego, staying on nearby Shelter Island. Stay down straight away inside. We were offered outside but it was chilly. Not so inside where it was absolutely roasting! Food options were many. Lots of pasta dishes and being a true Italian, no pizzas: these were available next door... More

I would guess the night we visited was short on servers. Everyone that worked there was so nice and friendly, but you go long period of time without someone taking your order, checking on you, getting your check. We went there about 8:45 PM and ended up staying a LONG time waiting and waiting. The food was OK, but not... More

There was much to like about Pomodoro when my family decided to eat dinner there one night while visiting San Diego recently. The hostess was friendly when we arrived (without reservations), and showed us to a table within a few minutes. The restaurant has a festive, family feel to it, and the menu featured the typical Italian favorites along with... More

I don't know what real Italian is. I've been to Italy, and the food was so underwhelming. This place on the other hand was excellent! This is a great small restaurant that won't disappoint. The staff is also excellent. Everthing from the bread to desert is topnotch. Try this place out, you'll be happy you did.

Went many times to this restaurant and food is always incredible. Huge portions, very tasteful, friendly staf. If you want a real Italian restaurant with great food and a nice atmosphere? Just one place to visit!
