A San Diego tradition since 1969, the Brigantine has received many accolades in our 40+ year history: "BEST SEAFOOD", "BEST CASUAL SEAFOOD", "BEST HAPPY HOUR", and even "BEST SWORDFISH IN THE WORLD", according to USA Today - just to name a few. Beautifully remodeled in early 2009, the Brigantine is well-known for the signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish, and Creme Brulee. The Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks and grilled meats. Home to the America's Cup until 1995, Shelter Island is still the yachting center of San Diego. The Brigantine offers glimpses of this busy marina from the outdoor patio and semi-private banquet areas. The Point Loma Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, and lunch Monday-Saturday. Food is good but we should have timed it for 1/2 price wine bottle Wed night

They handled our party of 9 nicely. We enjoyed our meal and never felt pressure to leave as we mingled after celebrating (comp dessert!) one of our colleague's birthdays. I had sand dabs which I really enjoyed them...you do not see them on menus too often.

We had a voucher for a free appetizer "taster tray" which was a good size, including a little taste of four different appetizers, one of which was the calimari strips. We had already ordered a full appetizer of them, but after tasting them on the free tray we caught our server and changed our order. They were limp, soggy, rubbery....yuck!... More

This is a great place. I have eaten at the Brigantine in Del Mar several times but not the Shelter Island location. Stopped in on a Friday afternoon for a late lunch. We were seated in the very large bar area b/c I the dining area is only open for dinner. I typically ALWAYS get Fish Tacos at the Del... More

This is a must if in Shelter Island area. The food was simply fantastic, lots of fresh fish at good prices. Beer was expensive as anywhere in California but a good choice and our server brought us testers to sample local beers. Leah our server was excellent really friendly and professional and did not rush us at all, in fact... More

This is a GREAT place to have Dinner. The service was good, the food was excellent. The service does not rush you through dinner, they give you time to enjoy time with your family. Although it is noisy it is a great place to have dinner and meet with your friends. Lots of free parking is available.

We love The Brig! They have the best swordfish and all of their salads are great. If we decide to go out to dinner at the last minute and it isn't too late, we can usually get a table. If not, we can eat their wonderful fish tacos in the bar. If you are staying on Shelter Island, this is... More

As desert dwellers, we always make a point to eat lots of seafood when in San Diego. The swordfish was excellent and my wife's shrimp and grits were just as good. Friendly hostess and waiter made this an excellent dining event.
