Very nice setting in a very classy hotel

Very nice setting in a very classy hotel. The prime rib sandwich and salmon plate was very good. The service was excellent. A little bit out of the way...but worth it.

Not sure if it is because Fairmont has taken over or because they have a new culinary team, but Amaya is not as good as it used to be. We've been coming to The Grand Del Mar on a regular basis since it first opened eons ago. Amaya was always one of our favorite place to eat. We would go... More

We have ate at Amaya several times. Really this is the only choice at the Grand Del Mar for a simple sit down meal. Each time we have stayed at the hotel, the service at Amaya was hit or miss. The first night there, everything was great. The second time we waited over 15 minutes for the sommelier to answer... More

Perhaps it was due to the July 4th holiday. This is a place for special occasions but the experience we had made it not special at all. The setting is absolutely gorgeous and boasts a well heeled clientele. But the prix fixe menu left something to be desired--something like enticing and delicious.... Those who opted for the BBQ were seated... More

We had just seen a television show about the Del Mar Grand Hotel, and the restaurant called Amaya located inside it. The marble and woodwork is drop dead gorgeous, and the food is totally amazing! Our waiter was very attentive and helpful, explaining the various dishes on the menu. The drinks he brought us were delicious - try the Margarita... More

Pricey, as to be expected for hotel restaurants. Ate breakfast and lunch there. The pretzel bread served at lunch is delicious! Vegetarian options available.

Well, I have to say I had heard a lot of good things about this restaurant and having just returned from a tour of Sicily I thought, as well as our friends , that a night out here to experience their Palermo dinner would be a treat. Well the food was very average grade hotel restaurant food, and tasted very... More

We made reservations for breakfast @ 10:30 and were made to wait to be seated while they checked "to see if there was a table available". I would think with a reservation the table would be ready. We waited another 15 minutes for a waiter, then another 30 minutes for our order to be taken, then another 45 minutes for... More
