Excellent pizza and service -

The pizza at basic is thin crust, with a great selection of unique combinations. Not too filling and just the way I like it. The free 8' billiard table is a definite plus if it's not too crowded. I have been here three or four times and every time the servers were helpful, knew the menu... read more

While the food was pretty good, and the atmosphere industrial-chic, the clientele ruined it for me. On a Wednesday night at 7:30, the bathroom had for girls in a single stall, one of them clutching the porcelain god and hoping for the earth to stop spinning. A private party was roped off with sheer curtains and we could hardly have... More

I read a good number of the reviews of this place on Trip Advisor and I am convinced that many of these people giving rave reviews did not have much to eat before arriving at "Basic". I can see myself really liking this place if I am starving. I am a pizzaholic ( really I am) and I cannot see... More

2 adults, 2 teenagers and 1 preteen went here before Monster Jam. We got there early so it was easy to find a seat (we walked by here before Supercross and there was a line out the door.) Their pies can be ordered white or red. We chose the traditional red- cheese and pepperoni. If you do NOT like your... More

The East Village is THE place to explore when in Downtown San Diego and one of its pioneer tenants is Basic, a place that celebrates Connecticut's( yes Connecticut) great pizza traditions. In addition to a great crust; wood fired taste and incredible size( those from Connecticut never lost sight of the fact that size matters)...Basic has great food. Try the... More

Great pizza! We got the So Meaty and it was hot and delicious. Server was Kiersten and she was friendly and quick. Loved the industrial style interior.

Was in town with a group of friends and family. We stopped in for dinner with a party of 10. Although it was busy staff took care of us. There was a fun art sale within the restaurant. The spacious bar space makes it easy to wait for a table, grab a few drinks. Beer selection is varied with some... More

Based on other TripAdvisor reviews, we decided to try Basic. I was with a group, so we ordered four different pizzas, and all were very good. Love the thin crust! Everyone agreed that their favorite was the Mashed Pie. Definitely worth trying.

We travelled to San Diego 2 years ago and could not wait to return to eat more Basic Pizza! The restaurant/bar itself is so cool I can barely describe it. Very urban, industrial, with low lighting, exposed brick, fun energetic vibe, fresh open air area. There is a HUGE ceiling fan that you have to see to believe. Very cool... More
