Some Really Good Pizza

The pizza options were really great and interesting--and well worth taking a risk. The pizza crust was fantastic--to me that is key to a great pizza. We picked up 2 small pizzas to go on a Friday night. One was the meaty and another was a white pizza with sausage and mashed potatoes. The meaty was very tasty! The mashed potatoes pizza needed a little more flavor. All in all a great pizza with a good thin crust on bottom and a nice amount of crunch.... More

Very eclectic local bar/restaurant with large garage doors and a bit of an industrial feel. Best pizza in San Diego. Very short menu but they do it very well.

Awesome selection of pizzas and toppings. You can go during happy hour and there are free samples to help you decide what to order. If you aren't very hungry the samples are enough to satisfy your hunger. Nice thin crust and high heat blisters on the edges. Yum !

Really nice spot as long as you want pizza, there are limited choices otherwise. The place is split into a bar type 1/2 and a more restaurant, the service was great and friendly, the beers good and the pizza great. A great low cost , but classy option in the gas lamp district.

This place is located in the Gaslamp Quarter. I went here after a very long day of travelling. I ordered a pizza and soft drink. I sat at the bar. The bartender/server was quite a jerk. He acted like I was invisible. He said hello, took my order, then disappeared to talk with a friend/co-worker. I had a hard time... More

My family ate at Basic tonight on our first night in San Diego. The service was great and the pizza was delicious. We would highly recommend the mashed potato pizza and the meatball pizza. We had four in our party and had two smalls. We also has the large salad with mozzarella instead of gorgonzola cheese - it was so... More

Our family enjoyed Basic as our favorite meal destination during our recent trip to San Diego. True to its name, this restaurant (bar, really) focuses on the essentials in just making really good, thin crust pizza. Our waitress guided us well in identifying several delicious options. We went on St. Patrick's Day, so the bar scene dominated the ambiance making... More

This was a super cool bar/restaurant. Awesome pizza. Good beer selection. Other than that though, not really any other food options.

The pizza here was some of the best I've ever had. I went with a large group of about 20 people. Pizza came out quickly on large trays and was quickly gobbled up by our group. The Margherita was the best. Salad was fresh and nicely put together. Service was quick and responsive. The red sangria was a little bitter... More
