Great pizza! We got the So Meaty and it was hot and delicious. Server was Kiersten and she was friendly and quick. Loved the industrial style interior.

Was in town with a group of friends and family. We stopped in for dinner with a party of 10. Although it was busy staff took care of us. There was a fun art sale within the restaurant. The spacious bar space makes it easy to wait for a table, grab a few drinks. Beer selection is varied with some... More

Based on other TripAdvisor reviews, we decided to try Basic. I was with a group, so we ordered four different pizzas, and all were very good. Love the thin crust! Everyone agreed that their favorite was the Mashed Pie. Definitely worth trying.

We travelled to San Diego 2 years ago and could not wait to return to eat more Basic Pizza! The restaurant/bar itself is so cool I can barely describe it. Very urban, industrial, with low lighting, exposed brick, fun energetic vibe, fresh open air area. There is a HUGE ceiling fan that you have to see to believe. Very cool... More

They have what makes a great New York pizza great; simple sauce, awesome crust, basic ingredients. Very, very good pizza. Keep it simple; sausage and mushrooms - very good. Service was real good. Very loud and vibrant atmosphere with high, industrial loft ceilings. Good for groups and kids, not so much for a first date or intimate night.

Had the So Meaty pizza and it was fantastic! The menu is basic but you can't go wrong...it's pizza. The small feeds two people easily. Great cocktails too! I was a little worried the service would be bad (slow start at the beginning) but once they took our order it was great.

A local recommended this place to me & my husband while we were on vacation. The pizza was awesome!! The menu is definitely "basic" and does not give you much to chose from but the "Meatball" pizza was delicious. I wish we would have ordered a large!! The happy hour specials were great and the bartender gave good pours. There's... More

We searched for the best pizza place in San Diego and after much research and reading reviews we decided to try Basic, and boy are we glad we did! Pizza is top notch with fresh, delicious toppings, the perfect amount of stringy, melty mozzarella cheese and a sauce that makes you think you're in New York! As far as ambiance... More

If you love NY style pizza, come to Basic next time you're in downtown San Diego. This is near the Gaslamp district, close to Petco baseball park, so within walking distance of most of the downtown hotels. The pizza is thin crust and this is the only place I've ever been (that's NOT in NY, NJ, CT or MA) that... More
