Visited this place whilst staying in the Gaslamp District on a work visit. We sat at the bar and the staff and locals were super friendly, to the point where they had us testing some of the bourbon on offer:-). The food was fantastic and needless to say with the food quality, service and ambiance, I would highly recommend a... More

Based on TripAdvisor reviews, we ate at this restaurant, and it was one of our top dining experiences in San Diego. Cowboy Star is relaxed and elegant, with outstanding food and service. Their menu includes lots of unique and delicious food combinations, and their steak philosophy is different than other steak restaurants. I highly recommend them and wish they would... More

The service was excellent and the food was mouth-watering. Just thinking about my 10oz wagyu flank steak makes me salivate. We also has Brussel sprouts and my boyfriend got the rib eye. Obviously the steaks were cooked perfectly (expected at a great steakhouse.) It is a bit pricey but for a special occasion or a memorable date night, it's totally... More

This steakhouse was featured in a recent series of the best restaurants in San Diego. Certainly the restaurant was clean and well set-out. Our waiter was attentive and service good. My steak was excellent but beyond that the food was mediocre. The crab cakes were tasteless, the mashed potato was questionable in its authenticity. and the rest of the food... More

I read about this place in the book in my hotel room when loking for a nice steakhouse close to the Gaslamp area. When I looked up the reviews at this sight I saw that they were very positive and I was not disappointed. The steak selections were very good with the waiter able to provide good recomendations.

I love how small this restaurant is. The concept is freaking awesome, classy cowboy feel to it. The kitchen is out in the open so you get to be entertained if you sit at the bar.

I can't remember last time I had such a good steak (ribeye)! It was tender like cutting butter, the taste of the meat was excellent and generously served but not extravagant. The sides were also really good, I can't fault anything at all. All of it with an excellent glass of red wine... what a feast! The restaurant's deco is... More

loved eating here. It's a bit away from the Gaslight area, but within easy distance. Thankfully not touristy, truly excellent food and service. The food was served perfectly cooked and melted in my mouth. I have already recommended to several friends visiting. Wish it was i LA.

This was some of the best food I've ever eaten. The appetizers were small but tasty. There was a party going on in my mouth I tell ya! The entrée was amazing. I had the filet and my friend had the NY strip. The service is top notch and that and the quality food is why you will pay top... More
