Best Steak and Cosmopolitian in the city. Try on the cowboy hats...to really get your groove on. Happy hour...great price point for steak and frites!

I read about this place in the book in my hotel room when loking for a nice steakhouse close to the Gaslamp area. When I looked up the reviews at this sight I saw that they were very positive and I was not disappointed. The steak selections were very good with the waiter able to provide good recomendations.

I love how small this restaurant is. The concept is freaking awesome, classy cowboy feel to it. The kitchen is out in the open so you get to be entertained if you sit at the bar.

I can't remember last time I had such a good steak (ribeye)! It was tender like cutting butter, the taste of the meat was excellent and generously served but not extravagant. The sides were also really good, I can't fault anything at all. All of it with an excellent glass of red wine... what a feast! The restaurant's deco is... More

loved eating here. It's a bit away from the Gaslight area, but within easy distance. Thankfully not touristy, truly excellent food and service. The food was served perfectly cooked and melted in my mouth. I have already recommended to several friends visiting. Wish it was i LA.

This was some of the best food I've ever eaten. The appetizers were small but tasty. There was a party going on in my mouth I tell ya! The entrée was amazing. I had the filet and my friend had the NY strip. The service is top notch and that and the quality food is why you will pay top... More

My husband picked this spot based on reviews to celebrate our 7th anniversary. We arrived at our reservation time and were promptly seated in a great booth. The decor is pretty modern with a western twist that is understated. We both started with a craft cocktail and the were presented with custom printed menus congratulating us on our anniversary. It... I was here for a private wine dinner event with a group of about twenty people in their private dining space. Food was outstanding with service equally great. The meat course was simply delicious. Will definitely be returning again soon.

Fab food with a relaxing atmosphere! Very pleasant staff... helped us select just the right steak. Mac & cheese > outstanding. Not an inexpensive place, but perfect for an upscale (yet casual-vibe) dinner. Perfect walking distance from the Gaslamp or East Village. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star was because I felt they needed to... More

Ended up going to Cowboy Star yesterday when browsing nearby restaurants on Foursquare. We got lucky and arrived just at the time when they had the last seating. Best choice we've made so far on this trip to the USA. The starter (Something with sweetbread) was glorious, and then the steak came. A 14oz ribeye, extremely tender, and with a... More
