I have been to this restaurant a dozen or so times in the last few years. This year I decided to celebrate my birthday at Cowboy Star. I was there about two weeks ago. It was absolutely one of the best dinner I've had in a long time. The evening was awesome. Morgan, the reservation specialist, was pleasant and kind... More

Simply, the worst restaurant where I ate in my entire life. Meat tasteless, pretentious waiter service, very high prices.

Terrific atmosphere, service, first rate steaks - even sea food. Excellent wine selections that won't require refinancing your house. Nice touch: order a glass of wine, they will pour a small amount for guest approval before pouring the rest. Fabulous deserts. Health conscious diners: there is something for you, even berries and sorbet for desert. Easy walk from most downtown... More

This is one of the best steak restaurants I have been to. Seating is mainly banquet style which makes it a bit difficult to hear across the table, but this was a sophisticated restaurant with high standards. I had a filet steak which was perfectly cooked, very tender and superb accompanying sauce. The mashed potato was fine and the beans... More

Contemporary decor, comfortable ambience, slightly upscale with a just a touch of old west accents. Very comfortable booths in addition to the tables. Fireplaces, too. Relatively quiet atmosphere. I have known about this place for months and viewed the interior, and noted the adjoining small butcher shop, and prices. Restaurant week triggered my first dining experience here. Despite it being... More

Fresh baked bread, excellent steak, good Mac & Cheese. Good portions. Not one of my favorites ever, but a very very solid entry with good service and an elegant but hospitable atmosphere.

Many of the restaurants in the East Village are quick fare for people attending the Padres games, Cowboy Star is not one of those. Plan to spend at least two hours there. The decor is old Hollywood Cowboy done nicely. There is also a great story to the building--it is really old and has gone through a huge transformation from... More

The food had some hits and misses. The layout and vibe of the place was comfortable, while being upscale. The efficient, attentive service created an amazing overall experience. FOOD Honestly, I don't think we ordered well for a place with the word "Cowboy" in the name, but at the end of the day everything on the menu should be delicious.... More

I had the 14 ounce Ribeye steak medium well with sautéed mushrooms . Talk about good eating... That was well worth the $50 price tag. Make reservations.
