While in Topeka, several locals suggested this steakhouse. It was closed on the 4th of July, but we went back with much anticipation on the 5th. The filet meal was $25 and included 2 sides - I chose salad and grilled vegetables - my partner chose salad and FF with gravy (a local favorite). Needless to say, we were sorely... More

My wife and I had eaten twice at North Star with .500 results. The first visit was blah, the second was good. So when we were invited with a group of my co-workers, I took a week to decide whether to accept. Our group of ten arrived on a Friday evening and was seated within ten minutes of the time... More

I have eaten here for almost 30 years-in the past the service was excellent and the food was good. Things have definitely changed! We had a reservation for 5 at 6:30 p.m. by 7:45 p.m. we still had not been seated, yet people who came later than us were enjoying their dinners. Ignored by the host and lied to by... More

I ordered a Filet, as did my wife, however the piece of meat we received was unidentifiable. Definitely not a Filet!

Had a Rib-eye. It was great. I really liked the fries with gravy. Friendly staff with great service. Will visit again when I am back in Topeka

After driving about 1,200 miles to Topeka from Phoenix, we came to the North Star with a few Topeka friends for dinner. Very disappointing experience. Despite having reservations and two of our party already seated, when we arrived, we were ignored by the manager and three waitstaff. The manager was more interested in watching the basketball game than attending to... More

We try not to respond to customer reviews because we feel folks are entitled to their own opinions about the many restaurants they choose to patronize. That being said, we do not condone, nor allow, food to be thrown across our tables in a tantrum-like fit while you verbally abuse our servers by telling them they can eat the, 'now-thrown... More

After eating at the North Star for over 30 years and having pretty good food most of the time tonight my wife complained about the chunks of core lettuce in her salad. The waitress immediately became confrontational and told the manager "this lady is out of control". We asked the manager if he would eat the "core lettuce" and he... More

A little out of the way and a little dated in the area of decor, the North Star Steak House is still well worth seeking out. Its not an Apple-bee's steak, but wonderfully prepared thick cut steaks so be prepared for the higher prices. I had a medium rare Rib-eye, my son had a Sirloin and we shared an order... More

The old booths provide a nice romantic atmosphere. They have a wide selection of beer as it is affiliated with a microbrewrey. And regardless of what you have for an entry you need to try the plate of fries with a bowl of dipping gravy.
