We just had the most wonderful experience in Topeka, Ks. It was eating at Porubsky's Grocery & Deli. We both ordered the hogie sandwich and it was more then we could eat so brought most of it home. People were friendly and fast service. Don't forget to try the HOT PICKLES.

Chili and a cold plate are always my favorite meal. Also look into party platters. The hidden treasure od Topeka. Why else would you get a road named after your business.

Off-the-beaten path but well worth a visit if you like spicy pickles. My favorite is the mustard (hot) pickle.

Don't expect fancy decor, or a big menu, but at lunch time you'll probably have to stand in line with everyone from CEOs to ditch-diggers to get in for their famous chili, cold plates or sandwiches and HOT pickles. After lunch it reverts to half grocery/deli and half neighborhood bar. Chili is served only Monday through Thursday, October through April,... More

We decided that we had to check it out, so we went for lunch with some friends. We got there after our friends had already eaten and the girl who was waiting tables finally decided to see if we wanted anything. She listed all the sandwiches and we ordered the ham and swiss on rye along with chips and pop.... More

I have heard so much about the chili I had to try. The place is very tiny and old. Budweiser is the only beer sold. Service is fast and friendly. Chili is just chili. I enjoyed the hot horseradish pickles. Worth a visit at least one time.

I have been going to this bar/deli/general store my entire life! When I was a child, I would go there with my great-grandma and get a cold plate and a root beer and sit in the bar. I loved putting my own mustard and mayonaise on my tiny little half sandwiches with a variety of deli meats and cheeses (you... More

An old grocery store deli in "Little Russia" area of northeast Topeka is an institution since 1947. The deli meat sandwiches are piled over an inch thick with freshly-cut meats, and in-season, the locals pile in Monday - Thursday for the house-made chili and hot pickles. Decor is shabby, you may sit at a large table with strangers, but the... More

They make a Chili that will have you talking about for years, their hot pickels are unlike any I've ever seen before, I love this place. I went there during a snow storm around lunch time and there was a line a block long waiting to get in for their amazing food.
