Casual night out

Very nice night out. It is very casual and if it is mid week you do not need reservation. Food is very good /French/.

Stopped in with a group of friends hoping for an early dinner before an event at the Garden. We got there about 330 so it was too early for dinner so we decided to sit and have a drink before setting out in the cold again. Scott was the bartender and he was very friendly and got our beverages quickly.... More

My wife and I had dinner at the restaurant for the first time last Saturday night. It was so good, we went the next morning for Sunday brunch. We had the escargot and the roasted bone marrow as apps. Never had each before...they were amazing. For dinner I had the Berkshire Pork Chop. It was outstanding. My wife loved the... More

Whether you are having the French Onion Soup w,ith truffled short rib, Moules Frites Mussels with pernod, lemon, shallots, fines herbes and frites, Steak Frites Brandt bavette steak with sauce bearnaise or maitre d'hotel butter (altho a bit chewy), or Salade Nicoise with seared tuna, boiled egg, artichoke hearts, tomato, and herbes vinaigrette, All is very tasty and worth the... Very good food but would have a liked a few healthier options and this place as well as all the Aquitaine groups still haven't learned that people are allergic to dairy. If Dunkin Donuts can have almond milk I think it's time for your restaurant group to get it. Soy, almond, etc. I don't think it's too much to ask... More

Early January in snow and cold is a good test of a place for serious brunch! The Gaslight did it perfectly from the majorly spicy Bloody Mary to the general food and service experience- all a well run and perfectly executed strategy that will draw you back I am sure. We are English so the offer of continuous black coffee... More

Four of us met for brunch on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated promptly and our order was taken. All of us thought the food was very good. One of us enjoyed the prixe fixe Omelette Lyonnaise, another the Vanilla French toast. The two other tasty dishes were Truffled Scrambled Egg Tartine and Croque - Madame. The only complaint was... As a lover of French Bistro food, I was delighted to eat at Gaslight Brasserie . The menu has the typical desired options such as onion soup, escargots, salad nicoise ,steak frites and moules frites. The Bar Steak is excellent with caramelized onions and frites. The roasted cod with assorted seafood was in a delicious sauce Americaine- one of those... More

For a low price of $30.00, you can get a fabulous prix fixed dinner with lots of choices. The escargot was filled with lots of garlic and butter, just perfect for the warm baguette that it was served with. Steak frite did not disappoint, with a perfect portion of tender steak paired with very crispy fries. The creme brulee was... More

A group of us had dinner at the Gaslight. We had a recommendation to request a different steak sauce but with the cognac cream sauce steak which turned out to be a fabulous recommendation as the sauce was awesome. Service wasn't perfect - we had to pour our own wine (minor) and hate to be picky but the wine glasses... More

Staying in South End

Neighborhood Profile
South End
Stroll down the beautiful brownstone lined streets while capturing views of Boston’s tallest buildings from a distance. Some of Boston’s best restaurants are scattered around this neighborhood. There are many gems to be found, from jazz clubs to classy bars and restaurants. It is also home to art galleries, interesting boutiques, artsy stores and SOWA open market during the summer months. The South End is a true find in the city, with a more residential feeling than Back Bay.
