Excellent sushi in Back Bay

Haru is just across the street from the Copley Marriott so I was able to walk there. The sushi was very good and they had "toro" (fatty tuna) which is impossible to find where I live and thus was a bonus. I was greeted in a friendly manner and seated immediately. Took half an hour to get drinks. Rest of meal came backwards--water came last, miso soup came after the rest of the food. The manager's excuse was, two servers had called in sick. Though we only got to the manager after the maître d' didn't help us (we'd gone to him after the waiter disappeared. Sushi was good, though, for... More

I was on my own, and so tried the happy hour and lunch food, which was definitely good but not as great as I'd been told by family members who had eaten off the full menu at night - probably worth splurging, then, but more than adequate if you're feeling more economical. If you want happy hour food, you have to... The atmosphere was great, exceptionally clean. The menu was quite large. The Asian and sushi were absolutely wonderful and so very fresh. The vegetable rolls you choose the ingredients that you want included (i.e. custom making your rolls.)

We were served in no time and the food was authentic and fresh! The prices were a wide range and we were able to find very affordable entrees.

After a long walk around the Back Bay district, we stumbled on this place and believe me what a good find. We ate from the happy hour menu which included a happy hour cocktail and believe me it lived up to the title. The wasabi fritters and the chicken satay were delicious but the Tempura short rib was perfection. Succulent,... More

I went to haru because I had a coupon for $20 for my birthday. The service was very slow although the restaurant was not crowded at all. I went on a Thursday night. The restaurant itself was chilly and I ate with my jacket on. The food was okay but o think there is better in the area. I wouldn't... More

Definitely above average sushi and a reasonable price. Their Entrees are good value when you see how much you get and all the fish is very fresh. Nice range of Japanese beers and sake

When I selected Haru for lunch, my expectations were low. There are a few Haru's in NYC and all are equally mediocre. I wanted a quick sushi lunch and knew, at the very least, I wouldn't get sick. I was seated at the sushi bar and had: Miso Soup Spicy Tuna Roll Spicy Scallop Sashimi One of their specialty roll... More

The restaurant was not crowded on a Sunday evening. The waiter was helpful and the sushi was fresh and a good amount for the money. Well prepared and plated.

Staying in Back Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
