I travel to Boston several times a year for business and every time I'm in town I go to Eastern Standard. In fact, I visited the restaurant 3 nights in a row by myself on my last visit and left satisfied each time. The staff is very friendly and made sure I sampled all the bourbon, oysters... read more

This is a very large restaurant (wife says N.Y.C. vibe) that serves above average food, but not fine dining. That said, the space is engineered to reduce noise, and although limited food choices, they are prepared well. Charges for beverages are high. Best bet was the dark chocolate terrine dessert, which was exceptional. I had a very good burger and... More

We drove an hour to come here for dinner. We were upset to find out that valet was only available if you made "reservations" ahead of time. This created a big hassle in finding a place to park in the city on a Saturday night. Although the food was amazing, the service was sub par. Beer was served in a... More

This would be a five star rating from me, if it wasn't for the loud and dissonant music that made conversation difficult. But, I digress. The service was superb and extremely helpful. Giving us recommendations, good explanations of the choices and all around respect. I am a simple eater and enjoyed a simple salad in a fun wooden bowl with... More

This is a lovely place to eat. Fantastic atmosphere, very buzzy and excellent service. The menu was excellent and each dish was beautifully executed. We will return.

A popular Kenmore Square restaurant for patrons wanting a more upscale, interesting menu but not outrageous prices. For appetizers, the Mac and Cheese was recently featured on TV. We thought it was underwhelming. A big portion, though--perfect for a child ~8 or older. The Foie Gras ($16) was mouth watering with a Madeira gelee and apple relish, plus plush brioche.... More

We stayed at the Hotel Commonwealth over the weekend and planned to eat dinner in South Boston. We had time to kill, so we went to the hotel restaurant "Eastern Standard" for a drink and an appetizer. We ended up cancelling our dinner reservations and eating at Eastern Standard instead. The waiter was terrific. He was very knowledgeable about everything... More

Stopped here for drinks before dinner. Did not eat, but plan to next time. Great wine selection and cocktails. Hip/young professional type crowd. Love the heat lamps on the patio and the overall ambience. Busy place, even on a Sunday night.

Staying in Fenway / Kenmore

Neighborhood Profile
Fenway / Kenmore
The Curse of the Bambino may have ended years ago, but loyal Red Sox fans will continue to infiltrate this home to historic Fenway Park, where you can find victory banners, people yelling in stereotypical Boston accents, and lots of sports bars. Located within Kenmore Square, the old gas station Citgo sign is another Boston skyline classic seen throughout the city. In addition to a hectic and diehard sports mentality, this neighborhood is also home to some of Boston’s many universities. Move from Boston University territory to that of Northeastern, and spend time at the famous Museum of Fine Arts. For more culture, check out the smaller but equally beautiful Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Continue off the beaten path and check out the green space in the Back Bay Fens, a pretty community garden. This diverse neighborhood has a mix of universities, sports, culture, and more residential green space.
