The line was out to the sidewalk, but only had to wait about 10 minutes. Lucked out and got one of the 2 tables in the window. I always love their ricotta pie, my friend got the cannoli, and I took home almond biscotti and white torrone. It was all delish and they are reasonable enough. It is CASH ONLY.

I returned to Modern Pastry last week. This time I brought my sister in law along for the first time! When we walked in the door, she said "oh my god!" The display cases were full and all of the shop was also full of Easter goodies as well. It took us a few minutes to decide what to order,... More

Great selection, fair prices, outstanding desserts. In my opinion, Modern Pastry is the best pastry shop I have been in any where in the U.S.! You can even order on line for delivery anywhere in America.

After standing in line at Mike's for the better part of 30 min, only to end up with pre-filled cannoli, we decided to try out Modern for a comparison taste test. Aside from sharing the same block, and the line of eager pastry-eaters, not much else is similar between these two pastry shops. The service is fast and friendly, and... More

My favorite guilty pleasure stop in the NE. Espresso is always hot, crema, and smooth. Don't underestimate the torrone - Italian nougat that lines the top of the pastry case - go for the plain/originale to experience the true flavors d'Italia. The atmosphere is genuine too and the prices are fair. You'll have to tolerate the usually dirty tables, but... More

A must stop shop for pastry lovers, we tried the vanilla custard cannoli and caramel nougat - both of them were awesome! You will be hard pressed to find a better cannoli! Service was good, obviously popular with the locals based on the queue of people trying to get into the shop.

In the "cannolli" wars, my pick is Modern (rather than MIke's). They are both tasty, but Modern's win for me because the shells are filled fresh with the filling you want, when you order it, rather than pre-filled and sitting around (to get kind of soggy). I recommend you try both places and make up you own mind. That is... More

The pastries are all wonderful and the cannoli is a standard but want to try something different? go for the lobster tail. We got one to go the other day and it took three people to finish. It was so amazing and decadent. Try to go at off hours so you don't have to wait in line.

This is THE place to go for top quality, reasonably priced Italian Pastry. Casual, friendly and worth waiting in line. It moves fast.
