Excellent breakfast.

Food excellent. Can be quite a line outside and so can be a long wait. Difinitely not good in the rain or snow. Reasonably priced.

We went for Sunday breakfast and both my husband & I enjoyed a lovely breakfast of scrambled eggs with toast, potatoes & coffee that was refilled. We were both set up for the day with no complaints at all. The second visit was on a Tuesday and was quite a different experience. No one met us at the door to... More

We always have breakfast at Thornton's when we come to Boston! Be sure to get here early. A popular hangout for students in the area.

Stumbled on this diner since we were staying in the area. Had a late lunch and decided we'd try for breakfast. My advice -- GO EARLY. There was a line out the door in the cold rain and the next day the line was worse and in 17 degree weather!! Breakfast is delicious and cheap. If you are in the... More

It's a superior diner. You queue, people eat up and go, and you get fed a range of great breakfast choices. It's really convenient to several hotels, but also worth going there even if it's a special trip. The eggs benedict are especially good.

We ate breakfast here a couple of times as we were staying at a nearby hotel. There can be long waits for a table as this place is quite small. The food is ok and the staff are friendly. The biggest downside for us was that our clothes stank of cooking when we left but the smell did go after... More

If you are staying at any of the hotels in the area and don't want to spend a small fortune on breakfast, Thornton's would be the place to go. Good food, very reasonably priced and an attentive staff. Don't be too discouraged about the line outside, it moves fairly quickly.

Good value and good food with a lot of variety. Very busy place and had to queue. Friendly staff but on very busy times under a lot of pressure.

Went here for breakfast whilst staying at the midtown hotel, great breakfast but long queues and far too much food on each order. Lovely staff but overworked and had no time to chat, but attentive enough.

Neighborhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
