On a recent visit to Boston I decided to meet an old friend for lunch. She suggested South Street Diner. I had never been there before. Upon entering I was warmly greeted by the waitresses and quickly seated. My friend showed up and we ordered. I ordered breakfast items (eggs, homefries, and sausage) and my friend ordered lunch (Grilled Ham... More

There weren't any diners near our hotel The Courtyard Marriott on Tremont so we asked the Front Desk where we could find one, they recommended the South Street Diner. What an experience! I had eggs over easy with rye toast, asked them to butter it for me and they obliged. My friend had an omelet and it was excellent. Most... More

Boston's South Street Diner is tucked into a corner just a block from the South Station bus terminal and two or three blocks from the South Station platforms for Amtrak, commuter rail, and the T's Red Line subway. Inside, you'll find an authentic diner experience: hearty comfort food on the breakfast and dinner menus, service available around the clock, and... More

I reached Boston from DC about 8am and was looking online for places to eat. This is your real american diner. Great service, hot food and lots of calories. Breakfast is pretty varied and I think the coffee is free, or at least top ups are. Its obviously popular with locals. Its a 3-5 min walk from the side entrance... More

The environment is certainly funky. check out the salt/pepper shakers. ours was of cactus or perhaps a sunflower. The tea pot was a "yard sale special" menu pricy, The phone booth is for storage. stools and a counter: what a diner should be. however, home fries were potato squares (probably frozen and came from a bag) formerly the blue diner,... were from Scotland and visiting Boston for 3 days after 4 days in NYC. We've travelled over the USA and never found an authentic diner till now. It truly is a delight to behold. The 5 of us were given counter seats and literally watched the magic happening right in front of us. It was very busy on a Monday... More

This somewhat hidden gem it the real article. No modern plastic imitation! The food is exactly what you expect - - good and plenty, and the service is quick and friendly. I ate a Reuben and it was simply perfect. Large but not overwhelming and the meat juicy and delicious!

In Boston, as in most places, finding food after midnight can be hard. Especially tastey and well priced food. This is an all night diner with great burgers and fries. The staff was really friendly and wanted to make us comfortable. We enjoyed the experience and the food. We went back a couple of times during this trip to Boston!

The best and most unique American diner I came across on my thru-hike of the 2200 mile Appalachian Trail. Its a real blast from the 1950`s and what America does and did best. I had a few hours to spend whilst waiting for my trans continental railway journey, from Boston to San Fransisco. Just a few blocks away was this... More
