Downtown Boston's only all-night diner

Old-fashioned, straight-ahead diners and luncheonettes are scarce in Boston...and places open 24/7 make for a yet more rare breed. For these reasons the South Street Diner is a treasure. A short walk from South Station at the tip of the city's up-and-coming Leather District neighborhood, this... read more

We went for breakfast this morning with our 7 and 4 year old kids at the recommendation of the doorman at our hotel. The place is small but we had a good time sitting at the counter, where the kids got to watch the food being cooked. The waitress accidentally ordered me a side of bacon (I had asked for... More

So it's mid afternoon and we're looking for a bite to eat and we need to head to South Station after a Sox game. I remember this diner from years ago but can't remember the name but remember the location on Kneeland. Just around the corner from the bus station end of South Station in the soon to be very... Open 24 hours a day, this is a great spot worth finding. We had an excellent breakfast and the atmosphere was as diner-sequel as you could ever hope for. Great experience

They're lucky they're the only diner around the financial district / downtown. Still, quality diner food, exactly what you go to a diner for.

This diner is open 24 hours, for that it gets 5 stars in my books. The food is always great. Do you always get the friendliest service? No. But it's open 24 hrs so no complaining here. The eggs are always cooked to perfection every time and the coffee is always fresh and on point. You can't ask for more... More

I went to the South Street Diner for breakfast today, and after hearing good reviews I was looking forward to eating there. Sadly, the experience was horrific. I was meeting a friend, who had not arrived yet, and so I asked the greeter if I could just sit and wait until he arrived. This request was refused. The place was... More

On a recent visit to Boston I decided to meet an old friend for lunch. She suggested South Street Diner. I had never been there before. Upon entering I was warmly greeted by the waitresses and quickly seated. My friend showed up and we ordered. I ordered breakfast items (eggs, homefries, and sausage) and my friend ordered lunch (Grilled Ham... More

There weren't any diners near our hotel The Courtyard Marriott on Tremont so we asked the Front Desk where we could find one, they recommended the South Street Diner. What an experience! I had eggs over easy with rye toast, asked them to butter it for me and they obliged. My friend had an omelet and it was excellent. Most... More

Boston's South Street Diner is tucked into a corner just a block from the South Station bus terminal and two or three blocks from the South Station platforms for Amtrak, commuter rail, and the T's Red Line subway. Inside, you'll find an authentic diner experience: hearty comfort food on the breakfast and dinner menus, service available around the clock, and... More
