Love this place! It is so unassuming in its urban industrial design that I was surprised at the exceptional quality of both the service and the food. I love really good, fresh-out-of-the-ocean oysters but rarely order them without a knowledgeable person coaching me and Summer Shack has just such a person. The oysters were quite possibly the best I have... More

We went last night. The waitress we got was a complete weirdo. One of these passive-aggressive types, who seemed very unhappy with her job. We ordered drinks, while she barely paid attention. When the drinks came, two out of three were wrong. I told her, "I ordered a Coke, not a Sprite and my wife ordered a sparkling water." More... More

The entrance and facade is a little unassuming, but behind the doorway is a restaurant in which we had an exceptionally good lunch. Everything about Summer Shack was so good - the atmosphere, the food and the service. The decor is like an industrial warehouse, the music was upbeat and the kitchen areas were open so you can see the... More

Summer Shack cultivates its informal pseudo-run-down atmosphere, but the food and service are first class. A friend and I shared our meal. Excellent chowder was followed by a generous bowl of mussels, followed in turn by perhaps the best fried oysters I've ever had the pleasure of eating. Our table shared a number of sinful desserts, all of which were... More

If you are downtown and in the mood for local seafood, this is the place. It looks a bit hokey from the outside. Once inside you realise that it was setting the stage for a relaxed and a bit campy vibe. The wait staff is all about making sure you have a good time. We started with the sampler app,... More

my wife & I dined at the shack...both ordered 2 lb lobster...hers was great...I could not chew mine...the manager came to our table after I complained to the waitress...he took my lobster off of our bill...the place reminds me of a high school cafeteria layout including all the noise.

Noise level was off the charts. Servers were not friendly. Went on recommendation of the hotel concierge. Neatest part was the open kitchen where you could watch them pick out the lobster and steam it. Clam chowder is not as good at Legal Seafood's. Over priced (as with a lot of places in Boston).

I stopped by for beer and WC semi final. The bartenders were attentive and I didn't have to wait for refills. Take advantage of $5 food during happy hour from 5-7pm. I would go back there when I stay at Hilton Back Bay.

Not much else to say! Friendly, fast service, great native clams. Went there with 3 people who'd never had NE seafood and they loved it. Unfancy atmosphere without feeling cheap.

You cannot go to Boston and not have lobster... Well - we didn't but we had some great seafood there and it is right across from the Sheraton and next to the Hilton in Back Bay. Would recommend!
