So good that we ate here two nights in a row. The kids loved it and so did the grownups. With live lobster tanks and mongers pulling them out as you order it's great fun for them to watch. The hotel recommended the Summer Shack when we asked if there was a reasonably priced seafood restaurant nearby. I had Ipswich whole belly clams and husband had scallops. We were both delighted and went back for a second visit during our stay in Boston!!!

I've been to multiple locations in Boston and they all serve the same great food. Oysters, Crab and Lobster are favorites here. Plan on getting your fill of food and will be wanting to come back for more. Service is on time and will helpful picking the right items on the menu.

Went here with a group from work for lunch. Nice place, and considering we were there early it was empty, so we had no trouble getting a table. Service was very good. Overall the menu selection was what one would expect for a mid-range place, nothing fancy, but generally a good menu for a group. Everyone could find something they... More

We went here upon the suggestion of our tour guide. I had the lobster roll which was wonderful. The homemade chips were great, not greasy or overcooked. We also had the cornbread, soft without being cakey or dried out.

Was at a conference close by and ended up eating here twice - once for lunch, once for dinner. Service was great for lunch a little more haphazard at dinner time. Food was great both times. Lots of seafood to choose from. And, do not miss the griddle cornbread with molasses butter....in fact that is what brought us back for... More

But Service was friendly but inept. Server was oblivious as to what to clear. Smelts rocked, fried clams and oysters and clams on half shell rocked. Clam chowder was full of huge chunks of potatoes and too salty. Lobster roll was fair (no need for lettuce or celery, in my opinion, huge need for more mayo. No relationship between bread... More

We wnet her for a working lunch the night after we arrived as this cafe was recommended by the concierge and a few other acquaintances. It was across the street from the Sheraton - so a brisk walk was good enough to bring us to Summer Shack. The menu was nice and the friendly staff went through that with us... More

I really enjoyed the lobster wontons as an appetizer. For my main entree, I got the clam roll. These were absolutely amazing! I highly recommend this place!

Staying in Back Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
