We went to the 224 Boston Street restaurant on the day of our arrival in Boston. As this restaurant was very close to our hotel and the trip advisor reviews reasonable, we gave it a try. The food was good, the service friendly and the cocktails strong :-) I had clam chowder and some cod as main course. Both tasty.... More

Since our daughter moved around the corner from this establishment nearly 4 years ago, 224 has been a perennial favorite of ours. Simply put, we've never had a bad meal here. Our favorite time to visit is in the late summer/early fall when we can sit and dine in the intimate garden patio. Little touches like ample pillows on the... More

Came here after just arriving in Boston after a recommendation from the hotel concierge. Everything took longer than it should have to arrive at the table, despite the fact we were the first people seated for dinner service. My drink was particularly weak (jalapeño margarita) considering the $12 price. The food was good, but the 2 hour total time from... More

Thirty years ago, my wife and I lived in Dorchester when it was a frontier for young professionals. 224 Boston was the first restaurant local to us with creative, upscale dining in a neighborhood setting. If we were not there the night it opened, we were certainly there the first week, and it became a regular spot for "reward" dinners.... More

Charming place; a cozy , creative feel to the décor. The food was comfort food yet with a definite contemporary flair. Nice variety on the menu, bountiful portions, yummy hot buns out of the oven. The scrod and meat loaf dishes were delish! The bar itself was neat and artsy and the cocktail menu was interesting. A cool place indeed... More

I had the truffle soup and a black and blue burger. The burger was good...the soup was amazing, so good in fact that I came back the next night for another bowl.

The only reason I didn't give this an excellent review was the service. The food was excellent. The restaurant itself has a neighborhood feel and the food was surprisingly creative and tasty. If I am in this area again i would go back for sure.

My daughter and I went for dinner when we stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott South Boston. It's about 3 blocks away, an easy walk. The service was great. We each had a glass of wine. I had rigatoni with lamb which was excellent--shredded lamb in a red sauce baked with rigatoni. Yum. She had meatloaf which she really liked... More

I loved this place... I reccomend the lobster sliders, they were amazing. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. If the weather is nice make sure you snag a spot on the patio in the garden.

Was with a group on business for the night in Boston. Wanted to try since it was down the street from our hotel. We did not have a reservation but was greeted and was shown to a table in the dining room. We had 2 servers this night, one was in training and they both did a great job. We... More
