Thirty years ago, my wife and I lived in Dorchester when it was a frontier for young professionals. 224 Boston was the first restaurant local to us with creative, upscale dining in a neighborhood setting. If we were not there the night it opened, we were certainly there the first week, and it became a regular spot for "reward" dinners.... More

Charming place; a cozy , creative feel to the décor. The food was comfort food yet with a definite contemporary flair. Nice variety on the menu, bountiful portions, yummy hot buns out of the oven. The scrod and meat loaf dishes were delish! The bar itself was neat and artsy and the cocktail menu was interesting. A cool place indeed... More

I had the truffle soup and a black and blue burger. The burger was good...the soup was amazing, so good in fact that I came back the next night for another bowl.

The only reason I didn't give this an excellent review was the service. The food was excellent. The restaurant itself has a neighborhood feel and the food was surprisingly creative and tasty. If I am in this area again i would go back for sure.

My daughter and I went for dinner when we stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott South Boston. It's about 3 blocks away, an easy walk. The service was great. We each had a glass of wine. I had rigatoni with lamb which was excellent--shredded lamb in a red sauce baked with rigatoni. Yum. She had meatloaf which she really liked... More

I loved this place... I reccomend the lobster sliders, they were amazing. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. If the weather is nice make sure you snag a spot on the patio in the garden.

Was with a group on business for the night in Boston. Wanted to try since it was down the street from our hotel. We did not have a reservation but was greeted and was shown to a table in the dining room. We had 2 servers this night, one was in training and they both did a great job. We... More

We decided to venture out during the snowstorm to the 224, best idea. We enter and the restaurant was busy but to so much. Our waitress came took our drink order and offer the night special. Appetizer we ordered the calamari with chunks of tomatoes black olives and arugula. Lightly fried with great flavors, the olives gave it a nice... More

This place is a gem! The calamari appetizer was perfectly cooked and quickly devoured. Arugula salad and beet salad were very fresh and nicely balanced. For entrees we chose the bouillabaisse, tuna wellington, and scallops with risotto. All were perfectly cooked and delicious. For dessert, we shared a dulce de leche cheesecake and a banana bread pudding with caramel sauce.... More

Ate here on a recent trip to Boston because it was near our hotel. What a find! Started the meal with glasses of a lovely Chianti. The tuna bruschetta appetizer was unique, delicious, and visually appealing. For the main plate I had the scallops which were very fresh and cooked and seasoned to perfection. It was served with an unusual... More
