I dined at Brown Sugar over 10 years ago and was looking forward to returning. This evening was a big disappointment. To put this in perspective, I eat Thai food frequently and enjoy the subtle flavors and interesting juxtapositions of hot and sweet. I ordered an appetizer and main dish, and both were ample portions. The chicken in the satay... More

Well, its probably never good for a restaurant's cred to have an ambulance out front when dinner guests arrive but that's what happened...A guest had fainted and was being taken away by Boston's finest...now on to the review..it's really lovely inside very Thai with wood everywhere, very upscale line table cloths, and very friendly staff. Prices for Thai are about... More

I live 17 miles west of Boston. But that doesn't stop me from going to Brown Sugar. My family love it. The food is very good, Fresh and light. My favorite Panang Curry. My husband loves the Pad Thai and Tahi Fried Rice. My daughter specially love the Duck Noodle Soup and my son love the Lemon Chicken. I just... More

Our local relatives suggested meeting at this restaurant very close to the north dormitory section of Boston University. The atmosphere, service and EXTENSIVE MENU were all very good. Our shared meal included Chicken Satay, Thai Egg Rolls, Pad Thai Noodles, Duck Curry, Salmon with Vegetables, and Sticky Rice. The plates were plentiful, enough for some take-home left-overs, and well priced.... More

I went after a recommendation from a friend, and were surprised that it wasn't at all like a cafe that I was expecting. This is Thai food, first and foremost. So go in with that knowledge because it will help you with selecting your food. What surprised me the most was how fresh and light all of the food felt.... More

Brown Sugar Cafe, and its sister restaurant in Cambridge, The Similans, are both excellent Thai restaurants and arguably the best ones in the Boston area. From their succulent curries to their pad thais, and their Tom Kha soup, or even their fried pineapple rice, it's all very delicious and affordable. I'm particularly fond of the latter of the dishes I... More

A bit further out than we would normally travel for dinner on a whim but well worth it! I found out about Brown Sugar through Trip Advisor and I'd definitely eat here again. I've not eaten that much Thai in my time but this was probably the best so far!...

We went here with friends for dinner and super hungry after a long day in the city. Unfortunately for us they have the most bizarre booking system that has you stand around for tables in the smallest waiting area possible. Anything over 4 people waiting and you spill out into the dining area, something that had anyone sat eating by... More

The spring rolls were really good, but the Pad Thai had way too much sauce, too many sprouts, and not enough noodles and chicken. Overall fair quality, but huge menu including the "Authentic Thai Cuisine" section which is only in Thai. Hadn't been there in years, and probably won't be rushing back.

We landed at Brown Sugar after seeing the excellent "Windowmen" at the Boston Playwrights Theatre a block away (hit both if you can). This is not your average Thai! The menu is extensive, more choices than I've ever seen. Very caring waitstaff, fabulously decorated room with exquisite fish tanks. Food was just delicious. We also enjoyed the "wanton soup"! My...
