Ate here in Oct 2009 - our previous visit was Apr 2006. I was very disappointed in the food and service on this visit. The pizza was soggy and undercooked, and not very flavourful. On our previous visit we raved to all our friends about how tasty it was. The service was bland and aloof - I was getting the... more

Agree wholeheartdely with the good reviews. Had 2 great pizzas along with the lamb skewer. This place is a former bakery, that changed to focus only on pizza. They only make certain pizzas, so if you like to order with ingredients of your choice... This is not the place. But what they make is great. I will always stop back... more

This is the real deal: food and drinks plain and simple, a local hangout that is a real find (if you can find it, GPS got us there!). Check out the website and the menu before you go, if you ask for a menu you will wait a long time. If you want someone to fall all over themselves treating... more

Atleast that's what you would have though from reading some of these other reviews. But to Santarpio's credit, we found the waitstaff rather affable. However, I would have no problem correlating between the "guardian of the pit" that stands by the door at Santarpio's, telling each patron where they can or can't sit (not really where they "can't sit", but... more

Santarpio's is nothing to look at, zero ambiance. You might feel like you are in someone's 1960's paneled basement. Great pizza, try the bbq lamb w/ cherry peppers, and I bet you will return again. This is not a place for the faint of heart, or a sensitive person. You are yelled to and pointed to your seat. Be prepared... more

I just experienced my second dining experience at Santarpio's and will return again. I have only had the pizza, and for me this is will be the sole reason to venture back to this hole-in-the-wall. When you walk into Santarpio's there is a charcoal grill with skewers of lamb sizzling away. You are yelled to and pointed to your seat.... more

I wouldn't say "the best" pizza in Boston, but this hole-in-the-wall is worth the trip - wine is either red or white, menu is pizza or bbq - that's it. Certainly the best bbq lamb in town. more

I have visited Santarpio on a couple of occasions, and while I do not find the atmosphere all that appealing, the pizzas are good and served hot, and the beer is always cold. Too, the Italian sausage and peppers provide a good appetizer. I like this place, despite the fact it is nothing special to look at. more

Never understood why this dingy looking place, with some of charming waitstaff --read rude-- is always listed as best pizza in Boston. The menu is extremely limited, and the pizza is oily with not many choices. I go by it all the time, and in winter wonder why people are waiting there freezing to death. more
