Great traditional Italian in the North End

Located in an old townhouse in the North End overlooking Paul Revere's House, this place is a delightful find. The lobster pasta was silky delicious and loaded with lobster, and the Osso Buco was fantastic. Plus they have a list of great Italian wines. Definitely worth a visit.

I was looking forward to this reservation due to high recommendations received from a colleague of mine. I even brought with me another couple who are local to Boston but have not yet tried Mamma Maria. Let me begin by saying the meal was lovely. I quite enjoyed by Striped Bass and my friends enjoyed their Pork and Wild Mushrooms... More

Once in a while my sister and I (twosisterstravel) decide we need a "fancy" night out. We love the North End of Boston most of the time for a casual dinner and red wine but tonight we choose Mamma Maria for it's high rating on TripAdvisor. We made 5PM reservations which is early because they don't open the doors promptly... More

Yes its pricey, but the food, the ambiance and the outstanding service makes this a special night restaurant well worth it. Mushroom carpaccio and rabbit pasta were incredibly delicious; the wine list was extensive and the half bottle selection one of the best I have ever seen. We had 9 in our party and everyone was raving about their selections.... More

Complacency has replaced elegance in the once-elegant Mama Maria's. My reservation was not honored; instead we waited and were jammed in next to a loud, crowded party. Ambiance and elegance were once the reasons to dine at Mama Maria's. Now you apt to be sent along the fast-food conveyor line while a world-weary host looks for the next wallet.

My best friend and I went for her birthday celebration, and the evening was wonderful! We were seated immediately, the food was brought in a timely fashion, and the atmosphere was cozy yet elegant. We had the asparagus ravioli and caprese for appetizers, filet and Osso bucco for entrees, and the apple tart and chocolate tart for desserts. Her husband... More

We visited Mama Maria's during Restaurant Week and had a wonderful meal in a lovely setting. Our meal was superb--from the ravioli and artichoke appetizers, to the perfectly cooked fish entrees, and ending with delicious desserts. The wait staff was most professional and made great wine suggestions. Before leaving, we toured the restaurant to see each of the unique dining... More
