Cutting corners, big time

Meh. I''ve been coming here for years and have always been pleased with their offerings. Sadly, they seem to be trying to save money by compromising portions. Bad decision. I hate leaving a restaurant hungry. firstly, with my entree the menu specified a choice of black beans or refried beans. I... read more

Boston is not a city where you would expect to find great Mexican food. Scratch that idea when you go to Casa Romero. It's a small restaurant down an alley off of Gloucester Street in the Back Bay but well worth the trek. The Mexican food here is orignal, well prepared and an upscale version of the Mexican fare you'd... More

Tucked in off an alley, this quaint basement-level eatery featured winding paths and tight staircases decorated with traditional Spanish decor. The service was very good, as was the food (be sure to order the guacamole!). I have to rave about their beverages - their margaritas were very well priced and well made. Looking forward to going back soon!

My wife grew up in Texas and lived on Mexican food. There are not many great Mexican restaurants in immediate Boston except Casa Romero, Ole and Zocalo. Casa Romero is a hidden gem and fun for adult family or romantic night out. Great guacamole and margaritas! My favorite dish is their Pechuga de Pollo Rellena with mole sauce and stuffed... More

We've been enjoying Casa Romero for many years, but tonight signaled a consisent decline in the quality of service and food. In short, the experience has transitioned from dining to eating, cooking to fixing. Mole was less than inspired, but more inspired that the mediocre service which strived more to place plates multiple arm's length away than to deliver good... More

I have been coming here since the 1980's-and I have never had a bad meal. But you must understand, this is not Taco Bell or Chili's--this is authentic interior Mexican food, expertly made under the watchful eye of Señor Romero-an 80 something Hemingwayesque character who is beloved by Boston chefs and patrons alike. The setting is great-you enter the basement... More

Enjoyed an excellent dinner here last evening. We stared with guacamole and chips and Shrimp flautus both excellent. I had the Shrimp cilantro dinner it was superb. My husband had the enchiladas Verdes and basically scraped his plate clean. The margaritas were great. I would probably ask for a different table next visit as we were seated next to a... More

The is a nice little Mexican restaurant hidden in an alley in the Back Bay section of Boston. The food is very flavorful and this is original Mexican food not Tex Mex. The waiters are very good and I ask them for recommendations. Have never been disappointed.

Hidden down an ally but worth finding. This restaurant is beautifully decorated and had a pleasent atmosphere. It wasnt busy when we arrived, we didn't feel rushed choosing or finishing our meal and the service was ok. Food was delicious, the tortilla's more than the enchiladas, but portion size was small so still felt peckish afterwards. Not outstanding but still... More

Tucked away down a public alley off Gloucester Road this Back Bay restaurant is worth hunting out. We made the most of the $22 early bird three course meal (excellent for this part of Boston!) and every course was a delight. Couldn't have asked for more and a great way to end our stay in Boston.
