good atmosphere and food

I met friends here recently for mid-week dinner. It is a festive, and nicely decorated restaurant in the Back Bay, entrance on an alley. We had various entrees and desserts. All good. Nice spot and good Mexican for Boston!

This is a cute Mexican restaurant that is tucked away on an alley way steps away from Newbury street. The décor is classic Mexican with tiles and colors. The staff are very pleasant and serves drinks with full bar. The margaritas are made with fresh lime juice and can be frozen or on the rocks. The chips are terrific but... More

So the bartender at our hotel recommended this Mexican restaurant not too far from our hotel He said it was super. My daughter and I went and had higher expectations than we experienced. The drinks were expensive..and the food portions were small-when we complained the waiter told us that the restaurant had recently chanced hands and the new owners were... More

My husband and I dined here last Saturday night after reading reviews saying it was a 'hidden gem' in Boston. Nothing could be further from the truth! Our meal was incredibly disappointing. We had a cheese and chorizo starter to share, which was actually just a dish of melted grated cheese. For our main courses we had enchiladas and a... More

This place is tucked away in an alley off of Gloucester Street. The menu reminds me of a 1980s Tex-Mex place. Servers seemed faintly annoyed to see us and the food was just so-so.

We fancied a Mexican meal on our last night in Boston so researched TA for restaurants near to us - TA certainly didn't let us down. This place is not easily noticeable from the Main Street as it's hidden down a small alley. The decor is fab and the staff are very friendly. It's not your run of the mill... More

This was my second visit to Casa Romero and it wasn't as good as I remembered it. Food was only average, and pricey for what it was. Definitely not the best Mexican spot in Boston, let alone in that immediate neighborhood. The restaurant itself, while cosy, can also feel cramped. We could clearly hear the conversation of the couple seated... More

Being from Texas, we were craving some Mexican food! We happened to find this restaurant on a travel app. When we got there, it felt like a "hole in the wall" discovery...it was off the main street in an alleyway. Very quaint and had an underground feel. Our waiter was great! Wish I remembered his name. I am gluten free... More

Great service. The food was good - the mignon steak was better than the signature pork dish. It had a great atmosphere and we enjoyed a special last night dinner here with friends after a weekend in Boston.

This was tucked Way in an alley off Gloucester Street but well worth finding. Staff were helpful and friendly and the food was good and imaginative. Good vegetarian options.

Staying in Back Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
