If you are looking for a nice evening in Boston and you don't know where you are going (like us). Make reservations at Sonsies and head to Newbury Street a couple hours before for some great shopping. We went to Sonsies based on the recommendation of a chef friend. It did not disappoint! The atmosphere is very warming and the... More

This is the only restaurant in Boston that I've visited where they won't accept your out of country (Canadian) Driver's license as acceptable ID. They. Refused to serve a Mimosa to me. Lost my appetite to eat here. It's 2014 - Canadians no longer require a passport to cross the border by land. I'm sure the rest of my friends... More

Open air front to Newberry Street, uncrowded bar with bar and four-top seating and a formal dining area. We stopped in to take a break from exploring the back bay area. A couple of beers, cup of clam chowder and a stone fired pizza set the stage for an early dinner. The food was noticeable wonderful and the wait staff... More

We had a 6 pm reservation, but were by earlier to be seated...no can do!!!There was a substitute menu, but the dinner menu was not available. I was mildly annoyed but we decided to wait. The dining room transformed from a bar to fine dining by the time we had returned. The new fall menu was amazing...The Butternut squash soup... More

I ate here back in 1998 actually and I still remember it. I'm glad the joint is still open and if I am back in Boston, I will definitely go back. I remember it was a very nice meal in a pleasant, unpretentious restaurant.

A friend of ours just moved to Boston and we met her here for dinner tonight (30 September 2014). We arrived early so headed for the bar where the young lady behind the bar was lovely, attentive and so helpful. When our friend arrived the staff promptly showed us to our table where the great service continued. The food was... More

Sonsie has two personalities. The first impression you get is from Newbury Street. It looks as if this place is for the youngsters; small bistro tables (alfresco if the weather is good) where you can have drinks and small dishes. But you walk in the door and see its other personality: a gracious dining room with white tablecloths and very... More

A super menu with interesting selections and good pricing. The front of the restaurant is louder than the back. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals, appetizers and drinks.

We had clam chowder and the mini lobster rolls and they were great. The "Presse" had just opened and the server told us about it and we tried a special latte... yum.

Lovely place with a good vibe. Found the good a tad underwhelming but generous portion sizes and a nice wine list made up for it. I'd probably try some other places in Boston before I return here. But all in all a pleasant experience.
