The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish. We know shopping induces hunger. Our restaurant is located on the upper level of Copley Place, with direct indoor access to both the Westin and Marriott hotels as well as to the Prudential Center. Panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows overlook Boston’s historic South End. We’ve received a boatload of accolades including “Most Popular Boston Restaurant” (Zagat, 2012/2013), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Improper Bostonian, 2010), “Best Chowder” (Boston Magazine, 2010), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Boston Phoenix, 2009) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.

My wife and I dined here twice during our stay at the nearby Marriott Copley Square. This restaurant is on the less hectic second level of the indoor mall at Copley Place. The entrance is very impressive, with a cool, modern/industrial look. We were warmly greeted upon arrival. Our first dinner there was around 5:30pm on Monday, 23 Mar, since... More

We had 7 in our party after some of us finished the Boston marathon. We were seated promptly at our reserved time. Appetizers were great and entrees most excellent Favorite was the Cioppino, but all our dishes were very good. Steaks were good too and good wine list that was not overpriced. The best part of our experience was our... More

We stopped here for lunch while on vacation. The restaurant was packed and we got the last table so we thought it would be good. Unfortunately, we were wrong! We started with clam chowder which was a little sweet and runny, and the clams were stringy. The rest of our meal finally showed up more than 45 mins later. The... More

We came in for the Boston Marathon and tried this restaurant upon recommendation from some friends who used to live in Boston. It was surprisingly disappointing. First of all the restaurant is huge and located in a mall (and not easy to find). I had the Baked Stuffed Shrimp and New England Clam Chowder. The chowder was bland and just... More

Have been here before and why I went back I'm not sure. I ordered two things, clam chowder which came out luke warm, and fried oysters which were soggy and tasteless. I was promised bread which I love with my soup on two occasions and it never arrived. They told me they were making it in the oven. How do... More

First you start out with 2 each of all the oysters they have. Dusharm is the shucker, and he knows his business. You pick your two favorites, and order a dozen each of those 2. Can't go wrong. If only they had Oyster Stew more often. That, and the Lobster Roll are the best seafood dishes in a seafood town.

I had a great dinner here (always do at Legal's). Food is reliably fresh and consistently good. Loved my clam chowder and I treated myself to the baked stuffed lobster, which was very good. Loved the cracker crumb stuffing. Came with two sides, too full to eat, but the quinoa salad was pretty good. My server, Brittany, was very friendly... More

We visited Boston dreaming of the highly publicised excellent seafood, and were told that Legal Seafood was the place for these dreams to come true. Well, what a disappointment - the fare offered at ridiculously high prices was way below what we experience at regular seafood restaurants in South Africa. We ordered a seafood platter to share. However, the lobster... More
