Lovely meal and very friendly staff

Our party of four enjoyed a delicious meal at Artu last night. The restaurant is very cosy being located under footpath level in the charming Charles Street in the Beacon Hill area. I would recommend the gnocchi and also the meatballs.

There 4 of us for dinner and the restaurant was not full. We ordered a salad and pastas. The portions were extremely large and pretty tasteless. I have been coming here for a long time and this was a bad meal. Even worse, they brought the entrees with the salads. And, then when they served the entrees, it was obvious... More

We called into Artu without a reservation and were told there was a 30 minute wait. We called back half an hour later and were glad we did. Top quality ingredients all the way, cooked by talented chefs. Simple Italian comfort food. Beautiful and plentiful calamari. Both the gnocchi and the bolognaise were amongst the best we have ever tasted.... More

Not cheap, but all the food was good, and the staff were friendly. The only slightly disappointing thing we had was the Veal Gnocchi, though that was more a matter of personal taste than anything else, as there wasn't actually anything you could fault.

The menu of Italian dishes seems aimed toward basic comfort food, and the pasta we had was OK. It took effort to get grated parmesan added. The capuccino was watery - I would suspect it was made with instant coffee. There was only 1 waiter, and when the room filled up, he was hard pressed to keep on top of... More

We only stopped here for drinks. The bartender was not knowledgeable and the bar is not well stocked. It is very nice and well located, so it gets points for that. It is not my favorite, but it will do in a pinch. Maybe for food, it would be better.

I read a review mentioning the lasagna here was melt in your mouth good so that is what I ordered.... Twice in four days! Call me a rube, (ok I admit it, I AM a rube!) but I didn't want to take the chance on being disappointed the second time around so I just let the rest of the family... More

Cosy little place you could easily miss - all the tables are located below street level. Quite small and intimate, we were lucky to get a table, 15 minutes later they were full. The food is all prepared in a kitchen area within the restaurant so you can watch the chef at work. Excellent service, great food, lovely wine. Not... More

A delightful place to eat with a great menu. Our wait staff was a hoot and very personable. The food was great and plentiful. The lasagna literally melted in your mouth. Everything we ordered was so yummy. Wish we had more time to spend in Boston as we would have eaten here more often.
