We had reservations at sister restaurant B & G Oyster Bar next door and they suggested we have a cocktail here while waiting for our table. What a great way to begin the evening with our son and his fiancé. We ordered wine and a small selection of paté. Wine selection was lovely thanks to the input of our server.... More

Went last night with another couple. Service was excellent. No bar service but decent wine selection. We had beef marrow served in a huge portion, beef tartar which could have been best we ever had with unusual spicy tang, a prime dry aged rib eye which was perfectly cooked and marbled. I give it a five fir food and service... More

I have been to the Butcher Shop a few times now, each one is more enjoyable than the last. I can't imagine the South end with out this gem. Mind you it isn't a sitting down style place, but is a great place for excellent food, foodies, and anyone who doesn't mind sitting at a pub style seat. Please visit... More

The Butcher Shop is a real butcher shop by day and a fabulous restaurant. They serve beer and wine. It is casual and very small. They specialize, of course, in meat.. I allowed the bartender to choose my wine and we tried the mushroom 3 ways for an appetizer. Smoked, marinated, and roasted in a cream sauce with crispy bread,... More

I went in here without a reservation and was quoted a 15 minute wait which actually ended up being closer to an hour. I will know better for next time and it was worth the wait and I will be back. Service was excellent, pork entrée was delicious and all-around very pleasant.

I've been here a couple of times, but sitting at the bar after work. Went for table service this time. The space is tiny so the seating is "intimate" to say the least. However, it was quite alright. We got the table closest to the door which was shaping up to be miserable on a frigid night. But our server... More

I eat here more frequently than I probably should, but the reason I always return is because I know that I will have a phenomenal experience and meal. Every steak I've ever had here is cooked to perfection. Reservations are ideal though. If you're hoping to sit at the bar and just drink, be prepared to be directed to the... More

Meat, Cheese, Bread, and Wine! What an amazing luncheon we had today. The spicy tomato soup was perfection! Just the right amounts of spice and acid. I'm going to have to try and make this recipe! The petit charcuterie was wonderful...and then came the cheese plate. It. Was. All. So. Very. Good.

I stumbled upon this restaurant early Sunday morning on a walk. The restaurant had a cool look to it and a limited menu. I had dinner there that night with two founders of a Boston start up I have known for a long time and what an experience! I arrived early so Matthew, our waiter, and I had a long... More
