Neighborhood steak with well-thought-out service

My husband and I visited The Butcher Shop for the first time, even though we've lived in the area for over 2 years. The food is upscale, but the atmosphere was a nice neighborhood-ly feeling. The wine list was extensive, appetizers were delicious (assuming you like things like pate and cheese and... read more

We thought we were lucky to get a last minute table on a summer night at The Butcher Shop. It had come recommended by a local. Once inside we thought we were in the bar and would be escorted to the "restaurant part". Nope. We sat at a high top table (very few real tables). The whole place felt old... More

The staff at The Butcher Shop were very friendly and knowledgeable. They took the time to answer all questions that we had. We had reservations and had a bit of a hiccup, but they were very professional and took great care of us! It doesn't hurt that the drinks and food were also fantastic!

Vibrant, friendly service. Lovely casual place with an excellent selection of wines with a cool and comfy ambience. Excellent fresh salads.

The bartender was so friendly and attentive. The food was so delicious. I had the BLT and my fiancé had the burger. Both were amazing. The butcher is cutting the meats right there in the restaurant. Talk about fresh food.

Excellent food and staff here! Nothing to fault about this place. It was very busy on the Wednesday night that we were here so booking highly recommended.

We happened on The Butcher Shop for lunch before the theater. We were delighted with the ambiance and the meal. We sat at tiny high tables watching the South End pass by while enjoying an excellent meal. The wait person was efficient and pleasant. It felt like a real neighborhood restaurant with people being greeted familiarly as they came in.... More

Sleek, urban and chic. Sitting at bar with a beer, charcuterie for one whilst waiting for friends (I'm really early) and it's all delightful.

If you're a lover of meat, this place is a must in Boston. Despite what you'd expect the menu is fairly diverse. However, we stuck to the meat and loved every minute of it. In particular, I enjoyed the Prime Coulotte (sirloin cap)--beautifully cut and prepared and different from the usual. It was enhanced by some decadent bone marrow butter... More

We had reservations at sister restaurant B & G Oyster Bar next door and they suggested we have a cocktail here while waiting for our table. What a great way to begin the evening with our son and his fiancé. We ordered wine and a small selection of paté. Wine selection was lovely thanks to the input of our server.... More
