We had an amazing Saturday brunch at Metropolis when we stayed over night in Boston. The brioche french toast was amazing. I had a pork belly eggs benedict special that was super delicious. It's a cute place, but fills up quick.

So we walked over to Metropolis for brunch on a Saturday in October. They are open before 10, which seems to make it one of the only ones open that early in the city! It is a cute little cafe, and the entire staff was very friendly and helpful. But the eggs benedict... that is what I would come back... More

I'd like to give any restaurant benefit of the doubt and say that perhaps this was an unusual night. Our waiter was uninformed about the menu, our food took close to an hour to get to us (the room was not half full). The chef nicely sent salads out because of our wait, though our server didn't apologize or was... More

I went here with my wife, her brother and mother. It's a small place and a little cramped inside. We sat at a booth and my wife and I sat on one side and barely had room to maneuver. No, we aren't fat. The service was good, basically we had a main waitress but all the staff came over to... More

This quaint little neighborhood spot has less than a dozen tables and just a handful of bar seats, but the kitchen delivers in a big way. This is one of those rare places that the locals will walk to for a quick bite, while others (like me) will happily make the trek across town. The asparagus tartare and gnocchi appetizers... More

We had seen a review of Metropolis and stumbled across it on our first night in Boston. We squeezed into a tiny table in the window and had first rate steak and risotto. A lovely, simple, buzzy neighbourhood restaurant with great food.

In this crowded field of quality restaurants in the South End this place rocks. Privately owned and managed by a wonderful chef who greets you at the door, the food is fresh, ingredients rule the flavors and it's just plain fun. service is simple and professional (no Hello My Name Is stuff...just good friendly old fashioned elegant service). Fish for... More

Why does it seem so hard to find a restaurant that has the right mix of good food, the right ambiance and excellent service. Lots of restaurants get close, but often fail on one of the three. Metropolis seems to have found the right mix. The service was excellent. Our server was understated but the real deal. She quoted the... More

Love this place. Very reasonable prices for the quality of the food. Risottos are great. It's very small, and there's no place to wait if they're full, so reservations are probably a good idea. Perfect location for before theater if you're going to the BCA.

Who knew that this small intimate cafe would be a hidden gem? There were 10 of us and everyone's meal was a taste explosion. I had the Asparagus Tartar with avocado for an appetizer and it was an unexpected surprise. Perfect instead of a salad. I had one of the best risotto's I have eaten in the U.S. with fresh... More
