Good food. Nice staff. A little pricey-Will go back again

Been there once with a couple of friends and enjoyed it very much. Good food and service. Prices are a little high (might be standard for Boston). (I'm pretty sure there is no wheelchair access. It is down stairs from the main street and doesn't seem like possible to make it accessible) I... read more

The wait staff are very accommodating and helpful. The food is very fresh and healthy but I don't know how they keep their prices so low. How many places can you go to , have a great meal and be treated like your important ? Now I go to Thai Basil at least twice a week. I'm happy to leave... More

This is a great little restaurant, nice atmosphere, great food and a good location. It's not really what you might expect for the position on Newbury Street, it's not pretentious or trendy, but they serve up excellent Thai food, very tasty and with wonderful service. Highly recommended.

The venue was packed clearly a favorite with the locals. Exceptional food and great menu selection. What lacks in decor, is exceeded with great service and a Thai gourmet feast.

Service was excellent. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The food was fresh and flavorful. We had the parang curry beef and chili duck and recommend both. Prices are good. Two entrees and appetizer for $36.00.

Small, downstairs restaurant with very affordable prices but still excellent food. A gem on the rather expensive Newbury street.

Walking along trendy Newbury St in Boston, we happen upon Thai Basil for lunch. It is located down some stairs at a lower level of a Brownstone. It is a small place with lots of small tables. We ordered the luncheon special entrees, which included Dumplings and spring rolls. It was served quickly, hot and very tasty. The place was... More

The waitress apologized profusely in her limited English for the poor service. Then, she took her tip off the bill...something we did not notice until we got home. The place was slammed this early evening. I suspect someone was a no-show. As we were leaving, two more wait-staff appeared on the floor. The food was very good but they seem... More

Staying in Back Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
