we had a wonderful meal with great service. We enjoyed the salads - beet and vegetable very much. both unique and well prepared. the onion soup was perfect. the main dishes from chicken to salmon were also excellent. the desserts also stood out. Clearly well run from the kitchen to front of the house.

Stepping into Aquitaine is like stepping into a romantic Paris bistro! Small and cozy, great service and delicious food. We had lunch on New Year's Eve. We started with the Tomato Fennel Bisque and then shared the Mac & Cheese Granitee and the Kale and Leek Gratin. All was tasty, served in a timely manner and surrounded by an atmosphere... More

Went to Aquitaine for brunch around 10am in the morning. We went with the Prox Fixe which was a good deal compared to looking at the price of the items normally. They got us coffee within a minute of sitting down which was great. We all enjoyed the food and the waiter even went so far as to get me... More

I've been here many times over the years for both after work dinners and dinner with my husband. It seems to have improved quite a bit food wise over the last year and a half or so. Service has always been good, never great or poor but good. French brasserie and bistro style dishes dominate the menu. Steak frites, chicken... More

Excellent brunch. The surprising thing was how reasonably priced it was given this was a very popular place in the South End. And it would have been an even better deal if we had gotten there for the 9-11 prix fixe brunch. Eggs Benedict on crab cakes. Cinnamon rolls. Terrific French coffee. And everything that went by to other tables... More

I've been here a couple times, the steak dishes are great but if you really want an amazing experience go for the more creative dishes. The Gnocchi are mouth-watering, from the appetizers I had something (forget what it was called) with olives, feta cheese and seafood, simply amazing.

We came with friends who recommended this place for Dinner. The restaurant is not big but cozy and nice place to sit in. I've had the Chicken Liver Mousse which was only average. Other Appetizer were good. The special Wednesday Duck Confit was tasty but a bit salty. The Atlantic Salmon was great and also the Moules Frites was a... More

The prixe-fixe brunch is pretty good. Lots of restaurants in the South End do brunches like this, so it's not super special, but still quick and easy, and overall a good deal. I'd recommend making a reservation if you go for brunch on the weekends.

Staying in South End

Neighborhood Profile
South End
Stroll down the beautiful brownstone lined streets while capturing views of Boston’s tallest buildings from a distance. Some of Boston’s best restaurants are scattered around this neighborhood. There are many gems to be found, from jazz clubs to classy bars and restaurants. It is also home to art galleries, interesting boutiques, artsy stores and SOWA open market during the summer months. The South End is a true find in the city, with a more residential feeling than Back Bay.
