I visited it on April 2013 and wrote a great praise/review. We decided to go again and unfortunately we regretted it. The ambiance is still eclectic and nice without being super snobish and on a Saturday night it was nicely packed. We had an RSVP for 8pm but did not get our table in the back until 8:25pm; no big... We stayed in boston for 2 nights and had no reservations for dinner. We walked down into the south end area along Tremont one night and were lucky enough to come across Aquitaine. From the first impression from the street, to the whole following experience we were completely impressed. We though the place looked full, and were milling around the... More

Mussels were fab. Love the french style and the carafs of wine! Good service and valet parking. Definitely visit again.

Everything we ate here was excellent, from the mussels, to the steak, to the fish. The food was meticulously prepared and seasoned. The service average, but in general we were very pleased. What we were disappointed in was the drinks. They were certainly full priced, but, they were only half sized. They should be embarrassed.

Atmosphere is romantic and intimate, food is outstanding and beautifully presented. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. In my top 10 restaurants in Boston for certain! We went to the Boston Aquitaine (there are 3 or 4 around the Boston area). Go!

Nice bistro-like ambience. The food was good. The coffee was average. The service was pleasant but slow and unintelligent.

When you're on a budget and want a special treat, go to Aquitaine in the South End for their lunch special (which actually isn't even on the menu anymore - you have to ask for it!). For $12, they will give you: Drink (soft drink or iced tea), half sandwich (most of the sandwiches on the menu qualify - I... More

I love aquitaine for a nice dinner or drinks with friends. The food never disappoints, I love the duck and pesto pasta. The service is always excellent and it has an intimate setting. The prix fixe brunch is a bargain with something for everyone to try. They also make delicious cocktails to pair with an meal.

When judging a place, one usually has to decide how much weight to assign/trade-off between food, ambience, and service. No need here. All are outstanding. We were visiting our son, who lives in the area. My wife just googled on the term "French Bistro" and we lucked out when Acquitaine's name was returned. All three were about to have what... More

Went for celebration dinner; was not disappointed. Surprisingly good house wine. The steeped-in-cassis cherries served with dessert may have spoiled me for life. One area for improvement - service was efficient but perfunctory, and it took 10 minutes after being seated before the service started.
