Excellent food and service

We walked to the restaurant from our hotel (4 blocks). The food was very good but not as good as I have had at this restaurant in the past. The service was impeccable which made up for the disappointing strip steak. My wife had the fillet which she said was excellent.

A special birthday dinner, a snowy night, an open parking space on the street- an excellent experience! The service at Grill 23 was amazing; several staff were very attentive on a Saturday night. We had a steak dinner and the fish special, sea bass that night-both very well prepared and presented. Their special dessert is coconut cake- so big we... More

I have a lot of fond memories of dining at Grill 23 (Uni Graduation, Doctorate Graduation, Engagement, etc.). It's the quintessential high end steakhouse. Excellent cuts, wine and service. Generally a flawless experience. Lower level can be noisy so ask for upstairs if you don't want to compete with the noise.

This is the best restaurant in Boston. Its a bit on the pricier side but a great visit, their steaks are absolutely amazing. They have a lot of options for side dishes too, we loved the asparagus! Ask to sit on the 2nd floor, its a much more relaxed environment compared to down stairs.

We had early dinner reservations, so we came when it was quiet. When we were seated, the entire staff was at attention and greeted us to our table, like we were visiting dignitaries. It was that way the entire evening. The manager visited us twice to make sure we were OK, wait staff was extremely attentive to water, busing the... More

We went for dinner last night with 2 other couples. It was a return visit for us because Grill 23 is one of our top places to go. The dinner from start to finish was superb. Everyone's steak was cooked to perfection. Exactly as requested. The vegetable dishes we ordered were wonderful. Service was top notch. They never made us... More

Sometimes old school is terrific for back to basics goodness. Grill 23 is successful in this regard. When he enter the door, the host is very welcoming and coat check extremely pleasant. We were seated promptly for our reservation in a nice corner table. The dining room has wool paneling and white table cloths. The tables are nicely spaced apart.... More

We booked a table for 2. The ambiance is very nice, but because of the high ceiling and the different levels in the restaurant we just were not so Lucky. It was extremely noisy.

As New Yorkers, we were super impressed. This is not an average steakhouse. This is a wow steakhouse. Quality, tender, flavorful cuts of meat, and delicious fresh sides. We had the twin filets, and the 100 day aged ribeye with green beans, and some kind of potato au gratin side that was to die for (may have been a seasonal... More

Don't expect a quiet intimate atmosphere, it's definitely busy and bustling but not overly so. You can still enjoy a conversation without having to yell ! The staff, service and food were perfect. Our server was attentive but we did not feel rushed. Both our meals were delicious, the steak especially so. I know we'll make a return visit.

Staying in Back Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
